The puppet would sit there, it's eyes blank, emotionless, expressionless. The beautifully crafted hands never moved from their set position. The girl who owned the puppet loved it very much, but longed for it to be a real friend. Not merely a silent shadow, an obedient servant. Little did she realize...how soon that wish would be granted...

Personality: Often says nothing at home. She's a bit spoiled and selfish but acts much different to her puppet that her father gave her. She acts kind and giving towards her puppet.

Raku sat there in her chair. Her painted blue eyes stared at the wall, never blinking. Her carved red lips stayed in the same position, never smiling. The strings that were attached to her body were wrapped around the wooden frame that was the only thing that made this puppet move.

"Father, I don't want a bicycle I want a puppet!" Charlotte yelled to her dad in another room. "That's what I gave you, darling. Check your playroom," her father instructed. Charlotte angrily marched to her playroom to see Raku sitting in a chair. Charlotte gasped and went up to the puppet. "Hi, darling! What's your name?" Charlotte asked with a kind voice, going up to the puppet and holding her hands. Her father walked into her playroom and smiled. "Sir, it's time you go to the meeting," a butler told her father. Without saying goodbye, her father left the room.

"My name is Charlotte, your name will be Raku!" Charlotte smiled sweetly.

Raku somewhere inside smiled. Her wooden hands trembled ever so lightly with delight. She knew she was going to be taken care of.

"Do you want to play with me, Raku?" Charlotte asked. "Ah, who am I? Of course, you would!" Charlotte exclaimed and grabbed the wooden hands of Raku to drag her to her slide. "You go first," Charlotte smiled and sat down on the slide with Raku in her lap. She slid down the slide and smiled at Raku. "You see that? That was your first slide!" Charlotte exclaimed and cheered.

Raku's head slightly fell forward, her golden hair slightly brushing Charlotte's cheek. Raku wanted so badly to smile at Charlotte, but her frozen lips remained still.

"Let's play more!" Charlotte cheered and set Raku onto her indoor swing. She put Raku's hands on the ropes of the swing and made sure they were firmly onto them. She then pushed Raku a bit so the swing would fly. "Isn't the swing fun?" Charlotte asked.

Raku's eyes shone lightly. The word yes tried to escape from the puppet's mouth, but couldn't. Raku wanted so badly to play with this girl and talk to her. Suddenly, something clicked inside of Raku. A faint sound eminated from her wooden chest.

"Raku, do you hear that?" Charlotte asked, putting her hand behind her ear to hear better. "It's almost like humming. Don't you think?" Charlotte asked again, still pushing the swing.

Raku opened her wooden lips, her eyes shining with delight as a soft little yes escaped her lips. "Yes...?" Raku was shocked. She was thinking...she was talking. Raku gripped the swing tighter. She could move on her own. 'Is this really happening?' Raku thought to herself.

Charlotte gasped and held the swing for a second. "You...you can talk?" Charlotte was about to scream. Is this puppet haunted? Charlotte thought and quickly covered to mouth to not scream. "You can talk!" Charlotte said again, a bit louder. Father said nothing about Raku talking.

"I...talk?" Raku still did not fully understand the process of speaking. She placed her feet on the ground and stood up, wobbling slightly before taking a step. Her wooden leg gave out and she collapsed to the ground. "I...walk?" She whispered, her eyes widening.

"You can," Charlotte said under her breath. "Do I tell father?" Charlotte started worrying. "How are you alive?" Charlotte started saying questions out loud to herself and worried even more. "Lady Charlotte! It's time for your studies!" a maid shouted into the playroom. "Don't move or talk!" Charlotte whispered to Raku.

"Yes, yes!" Charlotte shook with worry. "Now please, don't say anymore," Charlotte put a blanket over Raku and faced the maid that had just entered the playroom. "There you are, Lady Charlotte. Now come on, it's time for you to study," the maid grabbed Charlotte's wrist and dragged her into the study room, leaving Raku alone.

Raku pulled off the blanket and looked around puzzled after Charlotte and the maid had left. "I wonder..." She whispered as she balled her wooden hands into fists. Attempting to walk, Raku pushed herself off the ground and stood awkwardly. Raku gasped with delight before trying to step forward. A small cry erupted from her wooden lips as she toppled over. Whimpering, she quickly tried to get back into the position Charlotte had left her before someone came to investigate the crash.

"Twinkle twinkle littler star..." Charlotte sang dully out loud to her teacher. "No no! It's 'little' young girl!" he yelled and groaned. "That's enough for today, go back to your playroom," he mumbled and Charlotte galloped to the room, smirking.

Raku stiffened when she heard footsteps rapidly approaching. 'Oh...act like a puppet!' Raku screamed inside as she stiffened his limbs, glued her lips together, and made her eyes stare straight ahead. 'I hope this is natural enough!'
