So I was curious if anyone else was naming there pokemon uniquely. I got an entire thread dedicated to my pokemons names.

http://pokeheroes.com/forum_thread?id=3315

So, I'll pick out a highlight...hmm ah ha here

Ahriman- Ahriman stood high in the ranks of the enemies who opposed Ahura Mazda. Ahriman is thought to be the first personification of “the Devil” because Zoroastrians believed in a completely dualistic form of religion.

So what about you guys tell me why you chose to name your pokemon such.

I give my pokemon silly nonsense names. This way I can name all my pokemon! I believe that if it has a face, it has a name. It's real cool that you actually put research and thought into your names, though.
I have two that I really like:

This is Typheus Splitfan!

This is Aragoria Monochos. She is a lady.

Thank you! I'm thinking for making a giant clan of Splitfans and selling them for really cheap, so lots of people adopt them. Actually, I probably will do that if I go shiny hunting. I just hope nobody would release them. Where do you do your research for your names? Do you just read a lot of books?
Oh, and Mbulu is an awesome name for a Gyrados!

Hmm, I go for a basis of what I want the names to mean. Like Mbulu is a sea serpent and Gyrodos is a sea dragon/serpent. So I kinda go with what each pokemon is based on. Or Ammit has hippo like qualities.

The research I do is over the internet but I do read a lot and enjoy learning about things and find that naming my pokemon after famous demons, people, or beings is just a fun way to learn.

<- Bodhisatta

Description:
Bodhisatta was the name of a monkey King in a Buddhist tale. He tricked a water demon and was the leader of 80,000 monkeys.

He's my most recent addition.

Actually, Chimchar is based of the Monkey King. It's a real big story over in China. Sandy the water deamon is only one tale in a whole bunch of stories about him! Funny that you would name the other fire monkey after him. ^w^

lol I'll just have to find another monkey king to name my Chimchar after. I think Japan has their own.

They Do:
Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a main character in the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West authored by Wu Cheng'en.

I usually name my Pokemon after books, normally Warior Cats because it is easier to create a name that fits the Pokemon like for instance:

I would name this Stoneclaw
Or I would name this Spottedleaf

Spottedleaf (after the medicine cat in warriors)

Arctus (Latin for color/rainbow)

Stinkbag

And finally...
Dolores Umbridge (From Harry Potter)

I have many, many more nicknames but these are the only ones I could think of for now.

I name my Bulbasaur's respectively V-Nun, V standing for Venusaur, The Hyphen because I used to like hyphens, and then Nun just seemed to fit. It was from Pomeon Fire Red, when I first beat the game.
Flareon: Jesh. I have no idea, what it stands for, but I got an Eevee in X nicknamed it, and it was the most useless one at the time, but I didn't give up on him. He ended up being my Flareon, who is only 9 levels away from level 100 in X.
Also, Slyv became what I called my Sylveon, so I will shortly nickname Sylveon that, and Jolt was Jolton, Vapor was Vaporeon, and I called Doduo/Dotrio Dodo :3

I only name certain name's to certain pokemon. o3o Like my Typhlosion, his nickname is Ty Ty. Seems pretty cute for him~ >U>
Then there's my Amphy! Just a cute name for him also! And might or sorta have some relation with the Ampharos from HeartGold and Soulsilver.

That's all I can say for now XD

(I'm not sorry. C: )

I'm naming most of my male Pokemon after Imperial Guardsmen, mainly from Gaunt's Ghosts. Only Pokemon that are in my party though.

I usually either have my Pokemon names refer to their type, their appearance or something from their dex-entry. Like I named my Water type starter Tidus because it resembled tide, and my Koffing Roxie after a Poison type Gym Leader.
Gotta hatch 'em all~!
