Custom music from the sd card that's used in wireless (local/wifi) battles.
You can choose any format supported with Nintendo 3DS sound but the format that it will be most compatible with is .bcstm since that's the music format most 3ds games use.
Why .bcstm? It's the 3ds's music format and it's also loopable.
You may be thinking of .brstms which is kinda the same thing but for the Wii.
It's actually kinda easy to convert brstm to bcstm with a program.
There is also a site where you can download brstms in 3 different formats: .brstm: Wii, .bcstm: 3DS, or .bfstm: Wii U.
If you choose something other than a .bcstm you have to set your own loop points for the song.
I honestly think this is a good idea because you can change the battle theme to something that isn't in the game like for example, music from smash bros.
This is actually what I was dreaming of when I first heard you can change the battle music in XY.
I wish that dream will come true so that I can listen to other battle themes while i am battling.
I honestly might just stick with .bcstm for battle music but that is a good idea for a future pokemon game.
