Prologue

-+-
It had been 3 years now.
Since Erin Nightwood had met Day Carnelian, a girl with strange magical powers. They had quickly become friends, but it wasn't until a couple weeks later that Erin discovered Day had magic. Then, after about a year, Day vanished. Erin looked for her, but couldn't find her anywhere within the town. She knew she'd have to resort to desperate measures to find her best friend. Unfortunately, Erin had no clues and no magic to find Day, so she waited.
And now, a clue finally has shown itself.

-I might not write this very often, and I'll probably stop one day. I'm not going to write if I have no inspiration,
so don't bug me.
-Feedback is appreciated! If you have criticism, feel free to say it, as long as it's constructive.
-Suggestions are welcome, however, I have my own plans for the story, and if it doesn't go how you want it, don't be angry
-The story will switch from Day's and Erin's points of view
-Day is fine with Erin knowing who she is for a reason, it will be explained in the story later.

Erin

-+-
Jake, Day's dragon, emitted a soft growl.
"Okay, okay! I'm awake!" Erin muttered, finally getting out of bed. She remembered the crazy events of yesterday; The cream colored dragon had come to Erin on her way home from school, a look of loss on his face. Erin, startled by Jake, had finally felt a spark of hope for the first time in two years.
"I promise I'll find her. I'll find her, or die trying. Because even though I shouldn't be a part of this magical destiny stuff, I'll break the rules a little for my only friend. It's what friends are for," she'd vowed.
Unfortunately, all Jake had done was devour half the contents of her fridge. It had been a pain explaining it to her mother, and now Erin was grounded. Oh, well. Since Jake was only visible to those he wanted to see him due to some weird magic, at least he could come to school with Erin.
But the most pressing issue at hand was how Jake could help her. He couldn't talk, being a dragon, and didn't seem to know where Day was. Erin herself was completely normal, with no magic whatsoever. Just like everyone else knew, except for Day, of course.
Jake growled at her once again, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Right, gotta go to school. I'm gonna be late, aren't I?" Erin sighed, changing. She packed her lunch box, with an extra granola bar for Jake, grabbed her bike, and rode off to school.

Day

-+-
Day let out a sigh, feeling lonelier than ever. Usually she had Jake by her side. But it was for the better; She knew Erin wouldn't look for her without some kind of lead or sign. That was the kind of person Erin was.
Not that she had much of a choice, of course. She didn't even know if Erin was supposed to help her or not.
However, the prophecy clearly referenced her friend. And when Erin's memories of Day wouldn't erase, Day had known Erin was special. That she had more power than she knew.
But Erin was still normal, and only had the help of a dragon to find a the magically guarded area where Day had been for years now.
Suddenly, she heard voices.

"What's the point of keeping that girl here, anyway?"
"The prophecy, you idiot!"
"The prophecy, the prophecy. Is that all you ever talk about?"
"Yes, because if the tides turn in our favor, we'll have the power we need."

Day still didn't know what they wanted power for. All she knew was that they were definitely smarter than they let on.
And time was running out with every tick of the clock.
