Two sunrises later...
"Redwhisker!'' Maplestar yelled, "Don't let them get to the camp!" SilverClan was locked in battle with an enemy clan. Alderfern had her kits, Silentkit and Leafkit, and the clan was trying to defend them. "Don't worry, Maplestar!" Redwhisker yowled back. There was a tom heading near the camp, as Moonleap sprang forth. "Wait!" Redwhisker called, but it was too late. Moonlap killed the tom. "Retreat!" The leader of the enemy clan called.

Redwhisker was asleep in camp, laying his head on his paws. Yesterday, Emberpaw got greencough, and it was sickening her more and more. He was worried for her. He stood up and padded towards the medicine den, where Featherfall was with Emberpaw. He saw Featherfall looking disappointed, and Emberpaw laying motionless. He could tell from Featherfall's expression what happened: Emberpaw was dead.

Redwhisker dragged himself from the place where Emberpaw was buried to his nest. He didn't feel like eating or sleeping. Me and Emberpaw would have been mate, and have kits. Redwhisker realized that he also loved Moonleap and Goldpaw. "I don't want Emberpaw to feel like I'm replacing her." He thought, as he fell asleep.

Early the next morning, Redwhisker was grooming his pelt and straightening the flower he had. Emberpaw visited him in a dream and told him he could be mates with whoever made him happy. He was going to confess his love to Moonleap, so he picked up his flower and padded to the warrior's den. He couldn't see her in her nest. "You looking for Moonleap?" Mousegleam asked. Redwhisker nodded. "Have you seen her?" Mousegleam nodded, then said, "She went to Bouncestorm's den." Bouncestorm had been made medicine cat apprentice after Featherfall came down with an illness. Redwhisker bounded to the den, but before he could walk in, he heard Moonleap say, "Is it true?" Is what true? he thought. Then suddenly, he heard the word that changed everything.
"Yes Moonleap, for the 5th time, you are expecting kits."
Redwhisker dropped the flower. He felt as if his heart had broken into a million tiny pieces. His eyes welled with tears, and he raced back to his nest. He didn't hear Mousegleam question if he found her, and he didn't care. All he knew was that Moonleap already loved someone.

Moonleap was sleeping in her nest the next day. The clan fussed over her so much, it was almost enough to make Redwhisker sick. She was a former kittypet for StarClan's sake! I don't know what I saw in her. Redwhisker thought. He stood up and padded away when Moonleap's sister Fawnflower squirmed into the warrior's den. These kittypets don't deserve to sleep there. He walked out of camp and deep into the forest. His mind however, wasn't letting him enjoy it. He was losing everyone he loved. His siblings, Yellowpelt, Emberpaw, and now Moonleap. His walk broke into a run, and he didn't notice a monster rumbling towards him until a voice shouted, "Look out!" And pulled him away from the Thunderpath. When his mind cleared, Redwhisker took a look at the cat who saved him. She was a silver she- cat with white patches, long claws, a scar on her nose and... Redwhisker almost growled with anger. Arounder her neck was a collar. He didn't even pay attention to the fact that the collar had teeth on it. A collar was still a collar.
