Yuuka took out Honedge and stared at him silently for a few moments. She knelt down and beckoned him into her hand, holding his handle like an actual weapon. If she used his moves to make more powerful strikes, he could be the ultimate sword. She smiled. Although Honedge looked ashamed that he fainted, he was willing to let the stronger one rule over. Returning Honedge to his pokeball, Yuuka went back onto the street and looked up for no particular reason. Her eyes widened, mouth opening slightly, frozen to her spot.
The girl on the skyscraper was alive.
Yuuka took out Valenfloon and few upwards onto the skyscraper, staring. And yet again, as if she was controlled by somebody else, she transformed her shiny ditto into a speaker and screamed, "HELP!"
There probably were no doctors here, but somebody with basic common sense for this stuff was fine by her.

Yuuka spotted something in the corner of her eye. A girl (Sage), seemingly killed while sleeping on a skyscraper-- the plate of metal who finished her off was still next to her. As if on cue, something jabbed into Yuuka's back; she didn't even have time to scream as she fell, but glimpsed a sword pokemon behind her from a bus mirror. Valenfloon however, noticed before her and had used astonish half a second before the impact, causing the honedge to flinch and lessen the force. Yuuka stayed, paralyzed, for three full seconds before rolling an inch to the other side in order to dodge an attack.

"Valenfloon, use explosion!" she screamed.

A large boom sound shook the ground, and both Valenfloon and Honedge had fainted, resting inside the newly born dent in the sidewalk. Yuuka returned Valenfloon to his pokeball and took out a fresh pokeball from the factory to capture Honedge, going to the run-down pokemon center and controlling the machine to heal both of them after patching some of the wires.

Yuuka closed the door behind her as she left. Looked like there was a power outage. The dead bodies would rot soon. A homeless child was waiting for her a few feet outside the exit, holding one hand out, begging for food. Innocent, cute eyes, muddy skin, torn clothing, tangled hair, he had it all. Yuuka put her hand in one of her pockets and he looked at her expectantly. But she found what she was looking for-- one of Shade's throwing knives, collected from the tree trunk.
She stabbed him in the temple. Turning his body over, she revealed the child's own knife that was held with his other hand, hidden behind his back.

"I used to do this too, little boy," she told the corpse, "but even after I tricked the travelers into coming near me, even after I killed them to get their money, they didn't have much anyway."
Silence.
"Too late now, you took the risk and you failed."
She stood up and continued down the road, peering into windows and using Valenfloon to light her way.

	Fluffa closed her eyes, detecting her environment. A human boy and a Shelduck. She carefully hid in a bush, being careful to stay out of sight. She'd heard enough stories about humans' pokemon abuse to understand well to be wary. She didn't want to stay every day in a cramped-up sphere, or be sent out to fight battles for her captor. The world was in ruins, but some places seemed to still be functioning. She remembered this factory. It was the same place that made the ones she currently had. Yuuka closed her eyes as she walked in, playing a game with herself to test her memory.

Turn left, she told herself, then make your way to the right and face to your right after 25 steps.

Slowly opening her eyes, there was only a door in front of her. A simple door, more rusted than the others and marked "EMPLOYEES ONLY"-- not that those rules mattered with the world shattered. Yuuka opened the door and strutted inside, bumping gently into something surprisingly hard and lumpy.

Chuuu! She sneezed, waving dust from her nose. The room reeked of something
in-explainable.

She closed her eyes and sensed a light switch to her left, so flicked it upwards with her finger. A bulb flickered on, and Yuuka took in the surrounding area.

Corpses.
One was staring mockingly in her face, with purple bruises, bulging eyeballs, large bubbles of pus, and all hanging upside-down by the feet. She stared back at it, unwavering.

And with one last flicker, the light bulb went out.

	Yuuka took a bold step in, taking a sharp breath as she stepped into the city. But after that, it was easy as she walked through the streets she used to gallop happily in. Not surprisingly, everything looked the same. She wasn't even sure why she left the town to begin with, but then she recalled the incident. Yuuka tore the throwing knives from the tree trunk and stuffed them in her dress.
"Wasting resources," she murmured to herself. The knives could come in use. Later.

"I used my sword for many things, including--" she suddenly froze in mid-speech.
Silence.
She still did not move.
Her gaze fell downwards as her eyes widened.
"I got my sword from--" she froze again, eyes widening even further. Yuuka looked back at the road ahead.
"I forgot," she said quickly, so fast that she even surprised herself, and walked ahead.

"Titanium," she nodded, noticing the Reshiram's eyes twitching. "Uh, I'll get information from the others..."

Lugia sighed as we silently landed at the building.
Still have a knack for awkward communication? the genderless pokemon jokingly said to her with laughing eyes.
Psh, I'll get better at it, she sent back.
Silence.
She creaked open the door to see some people inside, quickly closing it.

"Identify yourselves," she requested loudly. "Are you part of Team Shadow?"

With a large sigh of relief, she hoped she wasn't interrupting an emergency, though it didn't seem so.

"I'm supposed to be part of your group," she informed, matching his pace. "I'm Melodicia. What's your name? They said I'd be filled in when I got there, could you tell me what's happening? Sorry for the questions," she added quickly.

In her mind she recited the names of the team members. She would definitely make sure she wasn't trusting a poser.

Melodicia let out an exasperated sigh as she lounged on Picasso's back. The government had told her all they knew about Team Shadow-- which wasn't much. There were supposed to be some trainers who she should find in the area marked on the lousy cotton map given to her, and they would be her allies. She was just a tiny bit scared that she'd be the runt of the team, with a petite body and not much muscle. At this point, it was easier to just believe the government when they flattered her.
A building came in sight just ahead, and she got excited, hoping for somebody her age. It was rusty, and barely any white paint remained. Mel almost fell off when a Reshiram blasted past her, but she quickly acted.

"Picasso, swap with Lugia!" she commanded. She realized that her skill at swapping in mid-air was improving as she fell onto Lugia. "Chase that Reshiram! Full speed!"

A legendary can match a legendary, she thought with a smile.
If my target is innocent, it's my mistake and I can simply let him go, Mel knew. But if he's part of Team Shadow, it's my lucky first catch.
