Rowan grazed his tongue over his front teeth when she touched him and bit it softly, closing his eyes and remembering why he had snapped at her in the first place. "The safety is on," he hissed back, "and you clearly know it'd be dumb to prance around these streets without protection." Rowan's narrowed eyes rested on her baseball bat for a second as he grudgingly shrugged off his coat.
He rubbed his eyes as he slipped his sneakers off and, with his head laxly tilted to the side, looking over at Yuzuki. "Do you need help looking for something?" He asked again, reaching behind his head to tug his hairband off and encircle it around his wrist.

Dawn's muscles tightened as they were swallowed by the darkness, but she reminded herself of the alternative and tried to keep an optimistic perspective. She had been learning to do so more in the recent times--usually Fallow was the more positive and encouraging sibling, with Minnow being the sarcastic contrast and her own attitude being a bit of a mature and reasonable approach. Living without Fallow's brightness had been a difficult change, and to see her back but with such lifelessness... Dawn pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind and focused on the task at hand.
"What's your name?" She asked the stranger softly, a lilt of hope in her voice as she wondered if the myth was true.

Eclipse lit up with interest when he mentioned games specifically. "Oh, can we try playing one?" She asked, shyly pointing to one of the farming games.

Damn it. Adeline bit her lip to curse at herself silently and mustered a reassuring smile on her face, closing her eyes briefly and straightening her posture. Years of practice and meditation made it quite easier for her to calm herself in such situations, skills that she wished she had before everything had happened.
"I understand your concern. I'm stable," she said firmly. The half-breed took a deep breath as subtly as possible and wondered why she was telling someone she had just met something so personal.
"I lost a parent of my own six years ago and I... well, I sympathize with him in that regard." Adeline cradled her wrist and finally met Glacier's gaze when she finished speaking. It was then that she noticed the intensity that the icy blue color gave his eyes, which stuck out in a way that was both mesmerizing and a bit intimidating--common personality traits of ice dragons in Adeline's experience. It was that moment that she decided to trust him with the details of her story.
She had never said the words aloud, and it came out as a whisper, "Murder. By my own claws; sadly, I didn't have a choice, either." A thick knot rose up in her throat and she mustered a question, both because she disliked the imbalance of trust and because she wasn't sure she would be able to speak with composure anymore. "And how did you end up in prison? I... think it's fair to share, after that."
------------
She nodded. "It's quite impressive, how lively the area is. And it's a wonderful cabin as well--much larger than it seems. There are... eight other people living here (including myself), I believe?" She counted on her fingers to make sure and nodded with a confirmation. "Yes. Most of them are really friendly, I'm sure they'd love to meet you."
--------------
"Mind if I join you?" Wisty asked as she drew closer to the edge of the pool, sitting down and dipping her calves into the water.

Void nodded curtly to show that he understood even though Lucius wasn't looking and padded back to Wither's side. [i]"I see. Oh, and we handled the witness~ in terms of trouble for Magnolia, everything is fine... although I think we may have to have a conversation with the boss," Void noted, knowing that Magnolia might be wondering.
Wither lightly squeezed Magnolia's shoulder with sympathy, "Well, it's only for now, and you can rest in my room if you need to. Is there anything I can do to make you comfier here?"

Rowan had stopped by the living room to put his coat up when he heard the footsteps drawing closer. "Jinx," he mumbled sleepily, not able to shake it off his mind, "was there a rabbit that came in earlier? I--" Rowan trailed off into silence when he realized that there were two sets of footsteps instead of one, and stopped himself just as he was about to remove his firearm from his pocket. He paused for a moment to look over his shoulder with intense blue eyes, which softened when he realized it was just Yuzuki and Willow.
He slipped his hand away from his trench coat and cocked his head slightly with interest. He was too weary to be mad at her, although he wasn't sure if he had been mad in the first place; Rowan's feelings towards Willow was generally a muddle of emotions that he didn't have the time nor care to decipher.
"Are you looking for something?" He asked softly, barely audible.

Jack pursed his lips tightly, wanting to stop her from saying such negative things, but figured that it would be better to just let her talk. His face blanked with solemnity when she mentioned revenge, to which he took a deep breath and nodded curtly. "Okay. Whatever you want--I'll help you. But just try not be pessimistic, okay? It'll make the healing process unbearable, and I'm absolutely sure your eyesight will be fine."

Evie took his nonverbal request and walked over to the other three. When Dexter called out, her vibrant amber eyes burled into Orion with what was almost wariness. He was, after all, her only actual friend in the group. Orion, naturally, saw no trouble in the request and pawned Koji off to the care of Ivy since she seemed to enjoy his company anyways.
He walked up to Dexter and, albeit subconsciously, stood in an equally laid-back position with his hands laced behind his head and his weight shifted to one leg. He gave Dexter a customary but very small smile to invite whatever interrogation was coming his way.

Evie pouted a bit, "Ah, damn. I was hoping for at least a lil' brain damage." She took the metal polish back and shifted slightly, taking her sword off of her belt and flicking it so that it extended fully and grabbing the nearest cloth. She didn't look up at Oliver when she spoke; after the debacle with Orion, their relationship would need a bit more healing before she was ready to start on the path of beginning to trust him again. "But really, how are you feeling? We can't afford an injury here, there are too many of us and the addition of a drag would be..." Evie trailed off with a shrug, letting Oliver fill in the rest.

Jinx didn't make an effort to stop the mild surprise that lifted her face. More forgiving than I thought, she noted to herself as she nodded in response, glad that Willow was willing to reconcile so quickly. "Go ahead~ I think our kettle is still on the stove from this morning, and both the mugs and tea are just on the kitchen counter."

"Well, there's a one in seven chance that it's not Sunday," Jack replied, looking ahead as he stifled his pessimism. We've already been unlucky enough, Jack thought darkly as he looked over at Crystal's eye. His grip softened with worry when he noticed the slouch in her ears. "H-hey now, it's alright. We'll find another shelter if it doesn't work out, there's always a place around the corner; I've been doing this kind of stuff for years." He pursed his lips. "Wait, are you hurting? Is that it?"

Adeline was initially confused when he got closer to her--Glacier seemed reserved and a strictly no-touch person--but allowed it anyway. She was just glad that she didn't scare him to death. Listening to a story so eerily similar to hers brewed a strong feeling of sympathy for Rogue; she tried and failed to stifle her emotions from showing on her face and tightly coiled her fingers around her cup as Glacier spoke. Her emotions warbled her concentration by making her think about her past and the subtle traces of scales began to etch across her skin. She considered telling Glacier about her history but decided against it, instead prompting for silence and a sip of tea.

"Oh, you met Adriane? She's lovely," Allium said fondly, gesturing to the living room sofa for him to take a seat. "I think Wisty and Crystal are somewhere off together in the house, I'm not quite sure where."
--------
Wisty gave the pool room door a crisp knock before opening it, poking her head in and skimming for Crystal. When she saw her, her eyes seemed to brighten and she slipped in the room. "Hey, Cryssie~ How's it going?"

Jinx nodded, "Yeah. He's just sleepy; poor kid can't function on anything less than ten hours of sleep." She smiled to herself as she looked at the stairwell he had gone up. He's still a teenager in that regard.
--------
Jack pointed ahead and then immediately whipped his hand back to his side in shame. She can't see, dummy, he chided himself, instead noting the structure to her verbally. "There's a church over there. It looks empty enough... what day is it?" He asked, knowing that religion wasn't popular in the area; it was most likely closed and, more importantly, empty.

She looked back at him and gingerly took it in her small hand, curtly nodding in appreciation. There was a slight pause before she added a 'thank you' for good measure; Evie wasn't used to generosity. She knelt down next to Oliver and tapped his shoulder lightly. "Hey, hotshot. How're you?" She figured that food would be good and opened the can before weasling it into his hand.

Eclipse hugged her elbows close to her side and shook her head, embarrassed. "Rhythe has a lot of weapons, but none of them resemble that," she mumbled.

Eclipse tilted her head with interest and leaned in a bit closer to look at what he had in his hand. She opened her mouth and almost blurted out before remembering the manners that her four parents had enforced on her vehemently. "I beg your pardon?"

Monty huffed out of his nose as a form of laughter and nodded. "Of course. I do hope we'll have another chance to talk again like this soon." He sipped the last of his tea and stood up to shake his son's hand.

Evie nodded and looked at Eli. She hadn't seen many naturally red-haired people in her days, and he was the only one that she could recall even being allied with. Wonder if he reminds him of Fox, she thought to herself. It was around this point that her people skills had reached their peak; Evie was left not knowing what to say in response. "Seems like a unique group," she commented softly, looking over at Oliver and wondering how long it would be before they should be worried about him.

Beau and Silver walked hand-in-hand through the streets, both of them pulling up their hoods. Silver pointed her face towards the ground in a desperate attempt not to be noticed and Beau occasionally glanced at her in worry. Her hand was weak in his and she looked more defeated than he had ever seen her before.
"How?" She asked hoarsely, as if afraid to speak aloud. He could hear the waver of fear in her voice. Beau took a left through the marketplace.
"I'm a semi-royal, Silvy. I heard that they were drafting in the area and I knew that they've been trying to get you on for years--of course the first thing I do is look at the list."

Jinx looked up in surprise to see her brother under the clear ring of the doorbell. Nervously she looked at Willow, who she knew wasn't quite ready to reconcile, but Rowan simply waved at her and slinked his way silently to the stairs. She saw the bags under his eyes and the way his back was arched and knew that he would be too tired to at least start any arguments.

She nodded in agreement, "Yes, I've seen how friendly he is. With all of the... starkly different personalities in the cabin, it's honestly quite surprising how well he's managed to get along with everyone--with a small exception, but still. He's a good soul, and if he's as genuine as you say, then it surely outweighs his past."
----------
"It's alright. Come in, sit down--we have tea." She opened the door wider, knowing that her roommates wouldn't mind. Nobody else was in the living room anyways. "I'm... surprised you're here, frankly. How'd you find us?" Allium asked in her always-friendly tone, although there was a growing bud of worry in her gut.

Wisteria skipped down the hallway, pausing momentarily when she noticed a shifting in the open closet. She inhaled sharply and squinted into the darkness, her toes curled as she crept closer. In a single, soft breath she muttered something and a small rune lit up in her hand, illuminating the narrow space in soft white light. Raven lay in the corner, his feet propped up against the wall, with a children's book in his hands. They looked at each other with matched surprise and Raven shrunk into a sitting position, flushed.
"What're you doing in here, Raven?" Wisty asked cautiously, knowing that Crystal was wary of him.
"I'm reading. Adeline says I should try to improve my English."
Darkness dragon. Of course he can read in the dark, Wisty reminded herself, smiling and putting her hand in her pocket as the darkness swallowed the room again. "I see. I'd be happy to help if you need!" She replied, closing the closet door behind her as she continued towards the pool.

Evie sat and listened to him in silence with her cheek cupped in her hand. She nodded occasionally, not making much of an effort to conceal her genuine interest. She skimmed his face as he spoke, and while she was paying a majority of her attention to actually listening, she used his exposure of raw emotion to analyze his character. It wasn't a conscious decision; her brain did it by itself, and she merely thought of it as learning more about Dexter. "What about Fox?" She asked in the same light and open voice as before, figuring that mentioning the possibility of his other two friends still being alive was a bit of dangerous territory.

The young girl's smile faltered a bit when she heard this and her eyes clouded with a wave of feeling that she couldn't quite put her finger on. She gaped at him, dumbfounded by this sudden attack of emotion, and protectively drew Dusk closer to her chest. His story was reminiscent of something that was wedged deep into the crevices of a history that she could no longer access, and the strange feeling ebbed away slowly and left her with emptiness.
Realizing that she had been staring at him, Eclipse blinked sharply and the jubilance that normally held her face crept back. "I think I have marks like that, too," she replied, her mind blocked from making any connection. "Your father seems really nice. Is he close by? Do you think he could help show us around?"

Eclipse cocked her head with interest. "I guess I got adopted by all four of them. I don't call them dad or mom, though," she remarked, slowing down a bit to look at an aging statue of a face. It was a man whose jaw was stretched apart to reveal his fangs, exaggerated and sharpened to a point that almost made the statue seem fantastical to her.
