What just happened? He thought, though he knew the answer. Someone just helped you out. You should thank him. Drew paused, not knowing what to say. Was there ever a time in my life when words came easily? He doubted it. Come on! You have to say something! He'd been on his own for so long, he had a tendency to mentally yell at himself when he was getting on his nerves. Finally, with his usual moment of hesitation, he walked calmly(actually, more like feigned calm,) up to Caelan. "Err... Th-thank you." He said quietly, his voice shaking more than he'd expected. Seriously? You couldn't keep your voice steady to say two words? He thought, frustrated with himself. Panic shot through him like lightning for seemingly no reason, and then he remembered. Title: The adventure goes wrong...Midnight yelped suddenly, bringing me out of my thoughts, and I looked up. Three Glailie hovered in front of us, blocking our path. I looked at Midnight. He was trembling, and looked ready to turn tail and run at any second. "Calm down, I've got this." I said, hoping I was right. I started by using Growl to reduce my opponent's Attack stat, and Midnight did the same, taking me by surprise. I then used Ember, and it was super effective! Midnight used an attack that I recognized as Hidden Power, and one of the Glailie fainted. The two remaining Glailie each used a move I think was Giga Impact, but I can't be sure, because I was knocked flying and slammed hard into the cave's wall. Fighting to stay conscious, I saw Midnight glance at me, then at the Glailie, then back at me. I struggled to my feet, and charged at one of the Glailie, using my Scratch attack. Then I used Ember, which was enough to knock out the Glailie I had targeted. Midnight's confidence seemed to be restored, and he used his Hidden Power on the one remaining Glailie, and it fainted. Midnight stared at the unconscious Ice-types for a moment, then looked at me. "That could've been us," he said quietly, "But we lucked out. They used Giga Impact, and we somehow survived... Barely, but we did. We make a pretty good team..." That was the last thing I heard before everything went black. [Read more] |

If I were still a human, then this wouldn't have happened. Thoughts like that occurred to him a lot, and it never helped. So he decided to try to do something that might help. Maybe I could try using an attack to get myself out of this... "Night Slash!" He cut the branch with his horn, freeing himself, and then trapping himself again, because the branch fell on him. Well, that was a short-lived victory. Now he was on the ground, a branch on top of him. Needless to say, he was annoyed. This is what happens when I try to solve my problems! But at any rate, we were somewhere with few trees, so I wouldn't run the risk of accidentally causing a fire with my tail. "Wow!" Midnight exclaimed suddenly, making me jump. "I've always wanted to see snow, and now we're surrounded by it." Well, at least he's happy. It's nice, seeing him like that. "Permission to run ahead?" He asked politely. I knew the proper response. "Granted." I don't even know why he asked. "Thanks Brooke!" He exclaimed happily, running forward. I decided to join him, because I'd lose sight of him if I didn't, and because a run through the snow would be nice. So I ran. I saw that Midnight had stopped in front of what looked like the entrance to a cave. "Brooke! Over here!" He yelled, in his usual excited yelling voice. I ran until I got to where he was, and stood beside him. "It's a cave." He observed, "Shall we go inside?" "We shall!" I replied eagerly. And so we did. [Read more] |

He scampered over to a tree a few feet away, and picked something up with his mouth, prancing back excitedly. For some reason, he placed it on the ground in front of me. "I'm not sure what this is, but I think it'll be useful." He said. "It looks like some kind of stone." I observed. "Exactly!" He exclaimed excitedly. I actually just set off a little while ago." I admitted. "Can I come with you?" He asked, his crimson eyes flickering hopefully. "Of course. I'll be happy to have you around." I whispered to him, and he seemed to understand, because he growled at the Arcanine. I resumed growling at the Arcanine, and then, without warning, ran past him, scratching his leg as I did so.
