And almost as if a bigger force was watching over him and laughing, at precisely that moment a guard blocks their way.
"Hey! You two aren't supposed to be here!" the guard yells, running closer to them.
Head empty, no thoughts, a panicked deer caught in the headlights, Valentin bolts past the guard.

"i personally really like how scary i look. i mean it doesnt work much with me but i feel swagger with it...if thee understand?"
"ah," she mutters "ill get the croissants!! my treat. " she gets up and ordersthe croissants as the two keep talking <3
"We... uhm... we.. we took a shortcut!" he lies, eyes moving to Kalinda as if to signal a 'we-are-getting-through-this-lie-TOGETHER' to her.
She can get used to this, Thea comforts herself. The knights don't actually seem all too bad...!
She nods at Rosaline, thanking her with quiet mutters.
"You seem very passionate, darling Philly! I think it's inspiring to find something you're so happy about to do for a living," she rubs herself on her neck. "I don't really do much... it's more of just helping my father. We keep ox just outside of the city, it's pretty nice."
The poor girl nearly dropped the pan at the sound of a loud yell. She recognized it immediately, rolling her eyes. Only one person came in nearly all the time searching for chocolate croissants. "Good morning, Philip," she called, steadying the tarts in her hands. "Your croissants are on their way, but please, don't give the other customers a heart attack," Charlie added with an exasperated smile. Boisterous as he was, he certainly livened the place up. Returning to the front counter, she was surprised to see this time a knight dragging a young lady into the shop. The knight, she recognized - Charlie had seen the knight patrolling around the castle, and on occasion, the city. She didn't recognize the lady. A newcomer, probably, to both the bakery and the town. She smiled at the warm greeting between the knight and "Philly", noting the whispered conversation between a now tense Ava and her companion. Charlie was quite sure now that they had been up to something.
Another jingle alerted her to yet another customer, and this time Charlie's gasp was much louder. The king had just walked in. The KING! She wasn't sure whether to be terrified or elated, but either way her hands were shaking ever so slightly as she set down the tarts. "Please sir, take your pick of the tarts," she merely said, turning back to the prince. Suddenly Prince Elliot wasn't quite so shocking or scary - not with his father also in the shop. The baker sincerely wondered if she was dreaming for a second before she burnt her hand on the hot pan, having brushed her hand against it without thinking. "Ouch," she muttered turning to dip it in some cool water. Maybe that would help her to wake up, too. This was certainly shaping up to be an interesting morning.
Nodding to the knight who requested the croissants, she smiled and gestured that they'd be ready in a moment. She removed her hand from the water and went to prepare a plate of the apparently famous pastries, glancing around her now crowded shop at all of the curious conversations happening within earshot. Charlie giggled. Just another day in the bakery. My, if only some of these people weren't here - she could have moved them...elsewhere. However, she wasn't risking discovery by those who couldn't keep a secret. After all, her idea was only fun if people didn't blab about it!

"Aha! I am glad you ask!" she says, finding a map from God knows where, and shows it to the knight.

((not completely accurate representation but i tried ok
"I am assuming you are just really eager, you should really show me that shortcut someday" Their voice was cheerful, actually maybe a bit too cheerful, it was really obvious how excited they were to teach some new kids about their craft. They quickly extended their hand towards Valentin ,since he talked first, offering them a handshake "My Name is Opal, I assume you are..." they playfully tap his forehead with their free hand "Valentin, correct?" he let out a playful smirk before their head turned towards the other apprentice "and you are..." it takes them a quick thought to continue "Kalind-a? Kalind-o? Not sure, it takes me a second to fully grasp everything, my sincerest apologies"
(sorry i just saw tirik reply but i don't want to delete all of it ,so i will act like this happened before he came around the corner)
Opal's entire positive energy gets halted as they hear Tirik's voice from behind them. "I would have you know these two seem to be very eager to learn about my craft, apparently they took a 'shortcut' to get here quickly, isn't that lovely? Wouldn't want to scare them away with any wild beast on their first day now, would we?" They say in an almost smug tone
