"Sorry. Lab opens at 8." Professor Pine shrugged like it was nothing. "Plus, all of you should be accustomed to the climate, right? Don't you all live here?" she frowned, motioning for them to sit on the fluffy couches and chairs around a brick fireplace, with a Arcanine sitting by.


Marla's eyes widend as she saw the Arcanine. "P-professor Pine, aren't those not able to be here? I thought fire types were dangerous."

"Yes," Erika nodded at the professor. Her eyes widened as she saw the Arcanine (albeit for a different reason than why Marla's eyes widened). "I've never seen one up close," She breathed, a smile protruding her lips. "It's gorgeous. And possibly lethal. I love it."

Professor Pine smiled. "Fire types here are being persecuted ever since... never mind. Just in the past, they were used to break the ice, but some fear it will hurt the climate and burn everything, since we depend on snow, interestingly enough. You can catch them outside of Hariosa." she grinned.

Neko quietly walked into the lab, and looked around. As she had been late, and missed most the conversation between the professor and the trainers inside the lab, she kept quiet. She tucked her hands into her pockets and looked around quietly.

(currently resisting the urge to make erika catch a growlithe but I love arcanine sO MUCH--)

"Noted," Erika grinned, sitting comfortably on the couch. She crossed her leg and took off Marla's jacket, tossing it to her. "Thanks again, Marla." She carefully shifted closer to the Arcanine, absolutely fascinated by the canine pokemon.

"Yeah." Marla nodded as she put her coat back on, shivering ever so slightly, and hoping nobody noticed. "S-so do we get our starters?"


"Yup! Sure do!" Professor Pine set out some Pokeballs, releasing the Pokémon inside them. "And Pokedexes... and words of wisdom?"

"Sounds good," Erika let her gaze flick from pokemon to pokemon until it rested on a poochyena with neatly kept fur and a torn ear. "...That one." She decided, eyes lighting up.

Hex looked at the different starters and her eyes landed on a rockruff. "That one." She said and immediately after the Rockruff ran up to Hex and jumped into her arms.

Neko looked at the different Pokemon that the professor let out. She decided on a Poochyena that was sitting quietly just beside the other Pokemon. "I choose this one." She said quietly, and smiled at the small Pokemon cheerfully.

"Hey, looks like we've got the same starter," Erika smirked and beckoned for the pokemon to come to her. The Poochyena scrunched up its legs and leapt clumsily from the floor onto her lap. Erika helped its hind legs up.

Marla bent down to the Swinub with a scowl on its face, who turned to her slightly. Swinub cocked her head to the side at Marla, and the girl cracked a split second grin, picking it up.


Professor Pine pointed to things on a table. "There's a Pokedex for each of you." she said before turning to the latecomer.

The Poochyena sniffed Erika curiously before offering her a quick lick to her chin. Erika giggled and scratched behind the ear that wasn't torn. "Scout." She decided. "You look like a Scout to me."

Scout barked his approval and turned to look at the dexes curiously. "Thank you, Professor." She smiled, picking up one.

"It's fine." Pine shrugs, cracking her knuckles as Arcanine wakes up and trots over. Pine grinned, petting the pokemon. "Erika, you can pet him." she offers, remembering the girl's name from the invitation.

Marla glances at Swinub. "You'll evolve into a Mamoswine.. Mai. I like that. That'll be your name." she whispered.

"Yesplease," Erika replied quickly. Scout scrambled onto her shoulder. Erika reached forward and carefully pet the fire-type. "Arceus. You're so warm. And soft. And gorgeous. I think I'm in love," She muttered, smiling in pure fascination. Scout lightly bit her ear. "You're my partner, Scout, I'll always love you more." She assured the Poochyena lightly.

Neko nodded in response to Professor Pine and looked at the Arcanine. She smiled in amusement, and looked back to her Poochyena. "Not sure if I'll give you a nickname yet." She said partially to herself and smiled slightly as the Pokemon looked at Arcanine curiously.

Nicoline panted exausted from running, out of all days today was the day she would sleep in? Once she could see the lab come closer her mouth cracked up to a small smile, she had arrived at the lab. Relieved to have reached her destination Nico went from running to a jog all the way down to a walk. She struggeled to catch her breath stopping right before the lab door. Once her breathing returned to normal the girl stepped through the doors, she quickly realised everyone was picking out their starters. Quietly she joined the group hoping she hadn't drawn too much attention to herself.

"I wanted a Poochyena... but apparently there were only two." Marla sighed bitterly, in a rare moment of voicing her displeasure - even if it was under her breath. "Oh well. I'll have the strongest team and blow them all away. You'll be strong, in and out of battle."


Pine laughed. "Ain't he a pretty one? They're great partners to have... but we don't offer them anymore." she smiled before turning to Nicoline. "Hello. Come on inside." she waed.
