I think a reputation system would be a nice addition to the site, and I think it's pretty easy to implement.

Here are a few things I think a system like this should have:
- Reputation should be invisible to all users, including yourself (excluding mod/admin), you are or you are not a reputable user.
- You become a reputable user when you get 20 Reputation (this number could vary)
- Reputation can only be given by reputable users.
- Moderators can reset a user their reputation at any time.
- (Optional) An automatic warning when a user gets below a certain reputation.
- (Optional) A daily limit for receiving negative/positive reputation, a single action should not make a user reputable or give a user a warning.

In the title I added "Feed system", that's because I think the reputation system can be used to occasionally show feeds from reputable users on the notification wall of a user who has not friended that user. This is mainly aimed for new users so they quickly get in contact with reputable users and this nice community. Obviously this should be able to turned off in the settings.

Just a little idea I had, I think it can help new users be active in the community, and possible make users act nicer toward others.

Not sure why we should have it then? Some of your other points made, in my opinion, would need it to be shown for it to work.

You can see if a person is reputable but not how much reputation one has, sorry for the confusion ^^

I don't really get the point of warnings though? You get a warning for being unpopular? Or what if, as people tend to do, you end up being the victim of a downvote joke? Heck, I can see people awarding negative rep to their friends to be funny

A good person can be unpopular, and a popular person can be one warning away from a permaban, and this system just rewards popularity, which seems pointless.

Thats why I think there should be a daily limit or weekly limit as to how much reputation you can get. Usually a joke doesn't last days or weeks. I'm thinking of the limit as a limit of the number of reputation received, regardless of positive or negative reputation. Don't think the way the limit works doesn't matter that much, it should just be there.

Indeed, an unpopular person wouldn't really get negative reputation though. Also the warning was an optional thing, and as you say, it's very much dependant on the people, what mood they are in and such. Either way there could be given a warning at some point, not necessarily a warning that counts towards a ban of any sort.

To be more clear this time, I was thinking of visualizing a reputable user with a tag like the premium, spriter, moderator,... tags.
I decided to suggest the actual number of reputation as invisible because I don't think it's something that people would want to hoard.
I know it won't affect most active users and that's also not really the point of this, I think the target group should be new users and not so much active, popular users.
