Max grinned playfully slapping his cousin on the back. "Brilliant! Let's go!"

Octavius frowned, keeping just out of reach of her claws. Then he drew some water out of the pouch and floated it over to her back. He was stealthy, heating the water to body temperature with his ability before easing it onto her back while be prayed she wouldn't notice. He didn't like seeing people in pain. And she looked like she could use someone nice to help her.

Jason chuckled and headed off to find the auctioneer and began the arduous process of bargaining with the man.

Cassie's angry demeanor fell as she felt the warm water on her back, she winced and whimpered as the water stung in the deep cuts. She pulled away from the water instinctively as it caused her pain, and she put her back against the cell wall. "Just leave it... Leave me alone oka-" Her voice was seemingly on the verge of cracking but as a slaver walked over to see what the yelling was she lunged at him, her arm getting between the bars, but fell short of getting him, and he reacted by shocking her. She convulsed and laid on the floor where she stayed until the slaver stopped and walked away.

Max followed, debating if he should go check on the two of them or help Jason. Frowning, he decided to go check on the two slaves.

Octavius stared, stunned and upset with himself. Sitting down against the back wall of his cell, he focused on not freaking out. He'd seen and been dealt worse. But he had really wanted to help her. Maybe he should just stop. Sit there and be the stupid slave he was. He certainly couldn't help her now.

Jason hadn't noticed that his cousin had left him and kept working with the man on a price.

Cassie sniffed quietly and worked her limbs up until she'd gotten up enough to stand. She looked over at the man who offered her water, and then tried to put it on her back. She'd hurt his feelings, and for that she was sorry. "I'm sorry..." She whispered before her ears twitched as they picked up on the sounds of someone walking in their direction. She turned and growled, not caring who it was.

Maximillian looked around, following a guard who was leading him to their cells. He kept himself calm as he walked. One day, he'd help bring this down. He'd help free them all. For now, he had to keep himself calm and do what needed to be done. Seeing the wolf growling at him, he knew he was in for a rough time until he could explain things. Not yet. He had to make sure she wasn't pretending in an attempt to crush the budding rebellion. "...why has she not been seen to yet?" he asked. "She was hurt. Do you wish to sell damaged and hurt creatures? I need her at her full health. So go get her food and water. Bandages if she'll let you close enough to put them on."

Octavius shook his head. He didn't think it was her fault. He was going to be quiet for a while now. Keeping his head down, he waited to be claimed by his masters men or his master himself. Or mistress.

The guard gave him a nod before heading off in search of the food, water, and bandages. Though he didn't intend to try the bandages.

Cassie continued growling at the man. Need at full health? H-he bought me?! I guess I need to make this worse... Once the guard had left she lunged at the bars trying to reach him with her claws, but he was standing just far enough that she couldn't reach him. She convulsed as she was zapped by a slaver who had come to release her to him. "Sir, I really don't understand why you'd get this one, but I suppose its meat would feed a few creatures, and it'd be a bit of entertainment... Would you prefer tranquilizers or extra guards to assist in transportation of your new property?" Once the zapping stopped she weakly looked up at her owner for his decision.

Max had had to really keep himself in check to not lash out at the man who'd zapped her. "Give me a moment to talk with her. I will come get you when I decide. I need to wait for my cousin anyway. We're going to be getting that one as well," he said, nodding to Octavius. Once the guard left, he planned to give Cassie a choice.

Octavius stared down at his feet, thinking. He was walking himself through meeting his new master. He'd bow and behave as he'd been taught.

The slaver bowed and left passing right by Jason who headed over to his cousin. "It's all taken care of," He said with a smile before walking over to the cell with his new body guard inside. "Hello..." He said as he moved to stand right in front of the cage, his eyes scanning over him, not in a rude way, but in almost a curious way.

Talk with me? Cassie groaned as she pushed herself back up and to her feet and let out a low growl with a huff. "What do you want?" Her voice was a very deep growl.

"I would like your opinion. I can let you walk out of your own accord. I have a hot meal, shower, and a safe place to live with an orchard to roam to ensure you do come with me. Or I'd have to resort to one of their options. Extra guards who'd knock you out if you made the wrong move won't do. So that's off the table. You can walk out with me, come with me and not run or I'm going to have to have you sedated until we get there," Max said.

Octavius looked up at Jason, quickly getting to his feet and bowing. "Master," he said, obedient to a tee.

"An orchard to roam?" Cassie tilted her head. "Hot meal? Shower? You have to be joking with me..." She growled again, her mismatched eyes searching his expression for a sign of his lie.

Jason chuckled and shook his head. "You don't need to call me master, just Jason will do."

"It's a very important orchard," Max told her seriously. He was not patronizing. "So...do you have a decision? I left out the fact that you'll be treated for that bite and claw marks. I was serious about the bandages. I'll put them on myself if you'll let me."

Octavius bowed again. "Yes, sir," he said. He found he was talking a lot more then usual. But that was to be expected with everything going on today.

Cassie thought for a moment, still trying to understand the very obvious kindness before she answered. "I won't run, but I h-" She stopped talking as the guard came back with the food, water, and bandages. "I wish you luck for getting these on her... No one has been able to get into that cage to do anything until she was sedated or removed... Oh," He handed Max two keys, one for his slave and one for his cousin's. Once the items were handed off he left.

"I guess sir works too..." Jason chuckled. "So, what's your name?" He was oblivious to the conversations going on next to him.

Max took the offered items then looked down his nose at the man. "Clearly, you have no idea how to deal with certain species. Thank you for the keys, we'll drop them off on our way out." It was a clear and precise dismissal. He turned back to the cage, looking at Cassie. "Food and water. And I am going to be putting these on. It is pointless to let you bleed out when I have something to help with that," he said, giving Jason the key to the cage of his guard. Stepping forward confidently, he kept eye contact with the powerful woman inside the cage.

Octavius watched what was happening out of the corner of his eye, silently reprimanding himself for doing so. Returning his full and undivided attention to his new master, Jason, he said, "My most recent name is Octavius."

Cassie took a step back from the door of the cage giving him room to enter. She wasn't planning to eat or hurt him since she'd already said she'd go with him. The slaver returned for a moment to hand Max a small black rectangle with three buttons. "This is the control to the collar just in case." He explained that the the top button gave the strongest shock, the bottom the lowest and the middle was somewhere in between. He gave no mention of how to remove it.

"Most recent? Did your name get changed?" Jason had heard of that, but he never came upon it himself. "I had asked what your name is, not the one you'd been given..."

Frowning, Max set the box on the ground next to the door of the cage. I don't believe she is going to need that, are you?" He asked, his tone dripping controlled rage. Let the man think whatever he'd like. Hopefully the creature before him wouldn't think it was aimed at her. He was giving off as many signs as he could he was not a threat to her. That is why the box was at the door. "Leave us," he added as an afterthought as he closed the door behind him. Let people think he was a pompous, self centered military brat. Their laws and rules were not perfect. They could not sit on any high horse and look down on him. He couldn't either, yet, but that was beside the point.

Octavius straightened his spine, a move that kept any sort of sign of weakness or tremor from his body. Thinking back, he fought to recall his name. Hadn't thought of it in years. "...Vaughn, Jason, sir. My first name was Vaughn. Given to me by the nursemaid," he said, bowing his head. "You are my master and will call me what you see fit," he added softly, reciting the words of a former master.

The slaver raised his hands in an 'I give up' motion before leaving him to his slave. Cassie practically towered over Max and stared intently at the box. "As long as you keep your word you won't need to use that." She snorted as she looked him over, planning to keep her word that she wouldn't run, unless he gave her reason to that is. She turned around and knelt down to give him access to her back that had long, deep cuts in it from the lions. Her black fur was matted and gross from the partially dried blood and the water that her neighbor had used.

"Vaughn, a nice name." Jason smiled and used his key to open the cell. "I may be your master, so I'm giving you the option to pick the name you want me to call you. I only ask that you call me Jason in return."

Max clicked his tongue, looking at her wounds. "I will not be using that. Even if you attack us. It is barbaric. While I cover these up, you eat," he said, offering her the tray of food. "I can't clean it properly but it'll do for a rough dressing. When we get to the estate, you're going to be treated by a proper physician and then we'll get you situated in your new cabin. I expect you to use it to sleep, cook, and live in when you aren't roaming the orchaed. I think you'll like it," Max told her, his tone soothing while he got the bandages ready.

Octavius thought about it a moment, stepping forward out of the cell. "Octavius," he chose, waiting quietly. He was definitely glad someone was helping his cell neighbor. He still felt bad about things.

Cassie to the try slowly to be respectful, but once it was in front of her she busied herself devouring it. She hadn't had a proper full tray in weeks. "What kind of orchard is this?" She asked after clearing a large mouthful. What made it so special that it needed a guard to roam it? How big was it? What things caused trouble in the orchard that she'd need to deal with them?

"Alright," Jason looked over to the cell that Max was in to find him getting ready to tend to the large creature's back. "You all good in there Max?" He was given a warning from the auctioneer about that particular slave.

"All, good, Jay, thanks," Max said, flashing his cousin a smile. "It is an apple orchard. Sometimes, things or people get onto the land and try to take the trees or apples. Or are trying to attack my family. I need you to help keep those kinds of characters away. You'll be given however much food you'd like from my table, from my stock, and of course if you wish to hunt, there are hunting grounds as well. Clothes, if you'd like them, and coin to spend if you wish to buy things," Max explained. He omitted the most important part of the orchard but it wasn't time to tell her about that yet. Besides, here was not a safe spot to talk about it.

Octavius stood near his new master, Jason, protectively. His mind was working overdrive, imagining scenarios and scenes that might come.

Cassie looked over her shoulder at her owner with her blue eye. "I've never bought anything in my life, nor would I even know how. I won't need much for clothes, just replacements for when things wear out..." She soon had cleared her tray in its entirety. "Do you want those kinds of characters kept away or used as fertilizer?" She was asking if he wanted them scared off or killed.

"I suppose I should explain your situation then..." Jason stretched a little as he walked over to the next cell to watch his cousin. "You'll be living with me in a room that connects to mine. I deal with my father's business associates, and they're not always the safest to be around if you get what I mean..."
