Hi,

I couldn't find an existing suggestion for this, so I'm starting a new one.

According to the Emera Beach Guide it's possible to catch a Megaable Pokémon, but you can only find out if it is by adopting it.
I get that this is similar to knowing that your Pokémon is Megaable after adopting the egg and hatching it, but in case of the Water Pokémon this seems bothersome as among those possible Megaables are Magicarps (meaning: Pokémon with a high catch rate).

So to figure out if any of your catches falls into this category you'd have to "mass"-adopt them (I know you can only adopt 10 catches in a certain amount of time) and then either spam the Auction house (which in the long run would result in lowering the Pokémons value) or release them all.
While at the same time Items from Leah are available for these Pokémon that could potentially be worth a lot more than some Bait or Boxes/Candies.

Long story short - my suggestion is:
Could the Megaable Pokémon be marked after catching them (like the Shinies and the Retros), so they are not used for Item Trades and the Auction house is not spammed with a flood of Magicarps (etc.)?

An alternative was provided by Miss-X in the comments:
Instead of marking the Megaable Pokémon, there could be something like the egg scanner in the Daycare.

Let me know if my explanation was too complicated or if you have any questions.

(Or is the Megaable-chance something that applies for every xth adoption of a Pokémon? That would mean you couldn't do anything about it at the Beach and you would have to hope for your own luck through adoptions - and therefore this request would be useless)

I'm on the fence with this one. I believe that there is a reason we can't see whether Pokemon in the fish box are Mega-able. Likely, it is because those Mega-ables would become too easy to obtain. It's also possible that their actual data (stats, gender, Mega-bility and such) isn't generated until they are actually adopted.

That being said, it would be nice to be able to adopt a Mega-able without the hassle of mass adopting. I'd support something like the egg scanner the Daycare has.

That's what I was getting at with the comment in brackets.
As a player we can't look into the actual programming of this feature and it's all speculation.

I like that idea and added it to the post as an alternative, I hope that's okay.

Giving this a push, because I still think it's annoying to adopt all those Magicarp, only to release them.

I agree at least, but sometimes if you accidently found a shiny mega-able,i would be a slight surprise
But anyways, when you caught a mega-able karp and exchange it to leah for a bait, your exchanging a shiny for a trash (Literally)and if anyone want their first mega,i think its going to be a sad moment for them
Helllo,im new here so thats all i think?

Support
I sometimes mass-adopt Magikarp in my fish box just for a chance and none of them are mega-able haha
I wonder why it's coded so that you can see shinies but not mega-ables
Also, adding mega-able won't "clog" the fish box as only Magikarp and Gyarados and mega-able (correct me if I'm wrong) and so it would only be just a few more text boxes, it won't make it extremely long

Quote from Miss-XLikely, it is because those Mega-ables would become too easy to obtain.
That would make sense, but mega-able Magikarp are already worth almost nothing anyway, so having it drop in price a bit more, it would help new players get a mega-able

Actually no, not literally a shiny, it's a mega-able

Quote from DragoaticIf anyone want their first mega,i think its going to be a sad moment for them
But they won't know that it's a mega-able, so there's no disappointment
keep livin'. keep dreamin'.
