Time to Light it Up...
Forum-Index → Roleplay → RP Sign-up → Time to Light it Up...Ariana settled down a few feet away, gazing at the lioness and sighing softly. Even if the huntress wasn't interested in her, at least Ariana would get to talk to her. Hopefully without conflict.
Brunhilde was wary, holding the knife, but prevented making any aggressive movements, as the lion didn't make anything either. If those things wanted to kill me, they may have done it while I was asleep. she thought to herself so she slowly and carefully rose to her feet and put her knife back, even raising her hands up to show a small signal of 'no threat'.
Sheera
Sheera's eyes flashed open and drunk in their surroundings instantly. She couldn't remember falling asleep, which made her wonder...
"Hey!" She leaped up, claws out and glaring at the nose of a large cat, careful to avoid eye contact. She kept her thoughts simple and meaningless. She had run into other dark Elementals before and knew their cunning and tricking personality well. But as she took in everything but the snow leopard's eyes, Sheera realized that she was laying on the ground, almost calmly. Sheera felt a tug at her brain to sit, and knew that it did not come from the snow leopard, but her own conscious. She ignored it and snapped, "Who are you?"
Ghembo
Ghembo's eyes roved over the human's empty hands and smiled to himself. The human would not be able to do anything to harm him for the time being. Ghembo stood up slowly, and flicked his tail. Instantly, vines formed a canopy above the duo's heads.
They were hidden from the star-strewn sky and the ears of any curious lion, or human.
"Speak." He commanded the human, even though he knew it was futile. "I am Ghembo, a leader. Speak."
"I am Ariana." She stated clearly, slowly getting to her feet and keeping her body language neutral and calm. Now was not the time for a conflict, especially when trying to get the lioness on her side. "I brought you here simply to talk, so please forgive me for the manner in which I brought you here. You shall not come to any harm so long as you stay rational. Now, may I ask your name?"
Sheera
The hackles along Sheera's back rose at the snow leopard's, Ariana's, calm and no-no nonsense demeanor. It wasn't as much as it being unnerving, more that is reminded of herself, when she was younger and not plagued by the worry of her rank. It was refreshing, and made her relaxed in the presence of Ariana.
"I'm Sheera." The lioness flicked her tail behind her, irked by the indirect way Ariana had threatened her. "I'm confused at why you brought me here." She glanced away from the snow leopard, studying the cave wall instead. The temptation to look at her eyes and see if they really were red was too great to continue to only glance at her fur. She quickly skimmed the snow leopard's eyes and was surprised to see that they were brown, not the ruddy scarlet from earlier.
"And why you didn't approach me in day." She stated it as an accusation.
"Well Sheera," Ariana began, thinking of what to say so that the huntress wouldn't attack her. "First I have to say how pretty that name is. Second, I brought you here at night so I could avoid causing a commotion and also so I won't be at a disadvantage, should you happen to turn on me. And lastly, the reason I wanted to talk is because I find you..." She paused, choosing her words carefully. "Rather attractive."
Rhea woke up and put the bear trap away. She looked at the moon and her eyes flashed red for a moment. She shook her head and looked away. Rhea walked through the forest for a while and took out her phone. For some reason the was internet but she didn't care. She looked at her calendar. The full moon was two days away. She put it away and reloaded her gun. She decided to take the path through the mountains and into the town where it all began.
Sheera
An eyebrow shot up. A sharp laugh escaped her. "Me? Attractive? Sorry, but I cannot be attractive, by just my appearance and the hierarchy of pride." She turned away, her ears swishing back and forth, signifying her great discomfort. "Only alpha males can be 'attractive'. I'm just a huntress." Her eyes flitted over the darkness of night, the stars caught like fireflies in the dark blanket of the sky. "I'm just a female."
She padded past Sheera to stand on a rocky ledge just outside the cave entrance, gazing up at the seemingly delicate twinkling pricks of light against the navy velvet sky. "They come together to form pure beauty."
Ariana glanced back at the lioness. "Beauty is not a thing easily determined by a single mind. It takes others to recognise it before you even realise it's there." She paused, taking deep breaths of the cool mountain air.
"You are not 'just a female'. You are so much more. I can see it in you, and I have not been observing you for long. You can do much more than is expected of you."
(Wow, I'm feeling really philosophical today)
Sheera
Sheera laughed, truly and honestly. It wasn't sarcastic or mean, but deep-throated and surprisingly rough and ragged. "What a brain! You must have been your pride's healer or something." She paused and the gleeful sense faded in the air. Her claws flexed in and out of her paws, chipping the edge of the stone. "And to answer your question, yes I have been raised with that philosophy. You'd be surprised to learn how many other packs, clans, prides, and groups of creatures follow the same regulations."
She sighed, then a thought occurred to her, which made her sit bolt upright. This leopard... this stranger... where was she from? Talking about females as if they could be the equals to males... that was not the ways of the Elementals she had met. Her guard flared up once more, a silent and stoic wall between the two. She once again was careful to avert her eyes from Ariana's gaze. "Who are you?" The air practically sparked with tension. "None of the Elementals that I have known follow the same rules." Her voice grew choked and strained. "Not even my pride leader. And he is the most honorable of our three alphas. Where are you from and what pack do you belong to?"
Bane sniffed the air. He walked with his pack as they went through the shadows. There was no sign of thier den that they had left behind. He slipped into the shadows and traveled quickly, his pack following closley. Soon they were back at the river where the previous alpha died. Bane sensed other presences near by and groweld.
Ariana gazed up at the stars again.
"We dark Elementals don't have a particularly good reputation, I suppose."
Sheera
Sheera chuckled. "You could say that." Silence enveloped her mind and she lay her head on her paws, thinking. This creature wasn't like others she had met. Especially dark Elementals. Those were the ones that tended to use their powers to take advantage of other animals. They almost always clawed their ways up through their group's ranks and became a powerful and greedy tyrant. Maybe being away from pack grouping and ranking had stripped that away from such a creature.
More than anything, Sheera recognized something within her. Something that she had always seen within herself.
Difference.
This was not your typical, everyday dark Elemental. So far, Ariana seemed almost... kind. Just so, Sheera wasn't your everyday lioness. She generally disliked being around others of her species, while the others seemed to luxuriate in the presence. The most predominant of the few qualities that she possessed that other lions had seemed to be her sense of pride.
Sheera slowly got up to her paws, nearly moaning at the ache in her muscles from the day's run and padded beside Ariana. She sat close enough so that their fur was intermingled and joined the snow leopard at looking up to the stars.
Sheera
She felt the tension leave Ariana's body all at once. She had a small smile pasted on to her face and sighed a deep breath. This was even more peaceful than when Ariana had dragged her up here. She turned to Ariana, looking her in the eyes without fear now, "May I tell you a secret?" She didn't wait for a response. "I've never been romantically interested in any lion, or any creature, for that matter. Except for now."
"That's funny." Ariana replied in a soft voice, moving her tail to wrap around Sheera's own. "I suppose I could say the same."
Brunhilde let out a small shudder with the lion growling, she didn't dare click her gun, worried out of making the creature aggressive, but then again, if she didn't show defiance, maybe she'd just be killed then and now. But, she felt a little bit curious about it. A trait that she didn't like, but couldn't help it, knowing that this creature was still with her and not it's pride. First question, she asked herself curiously, What is this lion-thing doing?
Putting her gun to her side and whirling around it's harness so it was on her back, she kinda lopsidedly bent over and put her hand up, almost as a sign of peace, if the creature could understand it anyway.
