After a while Kit finds a hole in the ground. She looks towards the
horizon and doesn't see the figure. She ties a rope to a large rock
near the hole and she repels down into the cavern. She flicks a
switch on her goggles and her heat vision comes on with a very low
hum. She can see faint foot prints that are warmer than the rock
surrounding her. She starts following them.
It smelled like sulfur and rotten eggs. It made Ari cough and
burned her nose, so she put her gas mask on. She discovered a
journal in her backpack. Why was that in there? "Note to self: find
minerals. Do not go into ca. Sulfurous gas.. Toxic." She read. What
could that mean? She hadn't found sulfur. Or she didn't thi k she
did. Peices if the page were torn or blurred and hard to read. She
kept walking.
Kit keeps walking down the different corridors following the heat
trail. The tracks get warmer and fresher. She goes to turn a corner
and sees her standing there. Kit draws her pistol, "Why did you
run?" She asks in a still muffled voice.
"Why did you follow?" She asked, turning around. She drew her bow.
Her spider stood next to her. The gas mask made her breathing sound
like something from star wars.
"Because you ran... And you have the gall to stand up to the
raiders..." Kit's eyes kept moving from the spider to Ari. Kit puts
her gun back in it's holster. "If you would like to die then go
ahead and shoot... The air is filled with sulfer... It will explode
if there's a spark... If you shoot and miss then it hits the wall
and ignites the fumes... And well... Boom..."
Ari glared and used the sharp tip of her arrow to cut the rope.
"Nice try." She said, picking up the rope. She whipped Mark in the
face with it and his mask tumbled off to the wet cave floor.
"If guns ignite the gas, we all die. Say I shoot first, my arrow
hits without blowing anything." She said. She snatched the gas mask
on the floor and broke it. She whipped him with the rope again, and
snatched the other gas match.
