In Character:
The last few years seemed to fly by. Everyone was standing in rows as the guild trainer cleared his throat. Today was the day that the students, each having trained on their own for this moment, would graduate into full on apprentice explorers and rescuers. The Machamp walked down the rows, looking all the nervous students over before making his way back to the front of the group.

"You have all done wonderfully these past three years, working to learn the skills and train within the safety of the guild and the nearby town. Today, all of you will become actual teams, ready for missions. You all just have one more task ahead of you before you can continue forward. You need to make a team with at least one other Pokémon that was in this course!" he said, to which everyone seemed to be enthusiastic about. He cleared his throat and it fell silent again.

"Your scores are on that wall, for you to consider your partner or partners wisely. Good luck, and I'll be waiting for you just outside," he stated rather simply, then turned to leave, letting the recruits form their own teams.

As everyone started to move around, mainly going to the scores, a golden Buizel with larger than usual paws and discolored tails backed away a bit. His scores never ranked very high, since most of the training had been in fighting. He was almost certain that nobody would want to team up with weakling like himself, and he didn't want to put himself in the center of attention.

After listening to Machamp's speech, Sera decided to move. She went near the wall and stood there for a few minutes, looking for her name. She found it, with a kind of regular rank, considering she was still new to this and her fighting style was not the best. The Snivy saw at least another 3 or 4 names near hers, with similar marks, so she supposed those were the ones she could form a team with. Then she turned back, looking for possible partners. However, instead of that, she saw a Buizel who seemed to be rather...disappointed or sad. Or maybe it just wanted to be alone. Either way, she slowly walked near the lonely one.

"Hi, I just saw you here alone and well..." she wasn't exactly sure of what to say. "Eh, maybe your rank is low? If so, don't worry, mine is not really good either" she smiled. "I'm looking for my possible partners. I saw these names...Khum, Ray, another one I don't remember and I think the last one was Laocoon. Do you know any of them?"

The Buizel perked his ears a little at hearing his name from the Snivy that was talking to him. She seemed unsure as she spoke to him, but it looked like he was one of them that she was looking for.

"I'm Lau," he started, then realized that he hadn't responded to anything else that she had said.

"Sorry, I'm one of the lowest ranking ones on the list, since I don't see a reason to needlessly fight, but I'm not actually all that weak. I just don't think anyone would want to team with me being as low on the list as I am. I'm Laocoon, but I prefer to go by Lau, as it's not so weird sounding," he explained, backtracking a bit to properly reply to her. He offered his right paw to her to shake in greeting, since he didn't want to leave a bad impression.

"Nice to meet you then, Lau" she accepted the greeting. "I don't think being low in the list is a bad thing. Anyway, we are new to this kind of things. Plus, I actually like that you don't fight for no reason. I'm always ready for a battle, but I'm not too good yet"

Sera thought the Buizel was quite nice. Winning, losing, getting better or worse rank didn't really mind.

"I don't care you have a low rank if you are friendly and ready to work. I wouldn't mind making a small team with you" she smiled, as she felt like Lau was still a bit nervous.

Then she moved behind the Buizel and gave a gentle push to him on the back, trying to make him move. She carried him with her by grabbing one of his large paws and pulling. Without even doubting, she went were some other Pokémon where, near the wall.

"Hey everyone, just saying, but Lau is already taken for the team. We will be a good one, right Lau?" she looked directly to the Buizel's eyes with eagerness.

Lau smiled at hearing that being low wasn't a bad thing, which showed off his pink fangs, feeling self-conscious, though, he quickly lost the smile and covered his mouth.

"I don't care you have a low rank if you are friendly and ready to work. I wouldn't mind making a small team with you" the Snivy added, with a gentle smile, then she eased behind him. He turned his head to follow her with his eyes, then was suddenly stumbling forward from her pushing his back.

"H-hey!" he managed to get out just as his paw was grabbed and he was forced to follow the enthusiastic Snivy right into the large crowd. He couldn't figure out what she was planning, since she had already agreed to make a team, so wouldn't it have been better to just leave?

"Hey everyone, just saying, but Lau is already taken for the team. We will be a good one, right Lau?"

The Buizel felt his mouth hanging open in utter disbelief at what the female just did. Her blue eyes were looking into his pinkish red ones as it seemed she was expecting a response. He finally managed to close his mouth, and was glad that his fur was thick and fluffy, since he hoped it hid the blush that had formed from putting him in the spotlight like this.

"Y-yeah, we'll be a good team," he muttered, then took a breath before pulling his paw away from her and thrusting it into the air.

"Let's take this world by storm and show them what we can do!" he yelled, taking a bit of her eagerness as he figured that things couldn't get any more embarrassing.

After the Buizel yelled, Sera seemed to be pleased.

"No one will stop us!" she happily shouted. However she felt like her new partner's face had a rather strange expression. She noticed a bit too late that Lau could possibly be shy or something, so now that they were already in the spotlight, she just continued. "We'll see ya all another time, losers" she said. Her intention wasn't being arrogant, but just disturb or annoy others, just like a small joke.

Some of the Pokémon actually fell on the prank. She saw some rather small ones like Lillipup or Pidgey trying to attack her, but she easily avoided them with Vine Whips. She hadn't hurt them, though. She didn't fight, but just grabbed them with the whips and immobilized them.

"Just so you learn, don't mess with..." she doubted "with...I mean don't mess with..." she looked again to Lau, while holding the other two Pokémon with one whip each. "We need a name. I can't say don't mess with the team. It doesn't sound good, right? We need a name."

Lau laughed at seeing the Snivy stumbling over the last bit. Sure, she may have annoyed some of the other teams with her taunts, but it was all in good fun. After all. Once they were all out of this room, the teams would be allies and rivals at the same time, trying towards the same goal.

"What about Sweet Blade?" he offered for the team name as he jumped to the side as a purrloin pounced towards him.
"It's not too fierce, but at the same time it's not a push over, you know?" he added with a swish of his tails, though it was clear that he was open to other suggestions for the name as well.

As soon as Sera heard that possible name she thought it sounded good, but she wasn't sure, perhaps because she could be a bit indecisive. She sat down on the floor and started thinking. Think. Think. Think.

"Sweet Loyalty? Sweet Sword? Aqua Forest?" the Snivy started murmuring. She didn't even know if Lau was listening or not, since she had started thinking about it so suddenly and maybe the Buizel was even no next to her. Balmy Breeze? Chilling Wind? Uh, no, nevermind.

She kept mixing different words in order to find a proper name for their team. It had to sound good, but she had no idea. She just wanted to mix words like sword, wind, scent, forest and water related things...the name had to sound good. For her, this meant not a cuteness overload, nor a creepy or scary name. Something that could sound friendly but serious at the same time.

When she threw herself to the ground to think about the name, Lau had to come to a sudden halt to not step on her. He scratched his head as she muttered something, but it was hard to make out what she was listing off over the sound of the crowd.

"You alright?" he asked, kneeling beside her as he tried to get her attention back. He heard her keep listing off words, as if trying to find the right one, then he realized that she was working on finding the right name. He chuckled, finding it rather amusing that she seemed to completely dive into something head first when she decided to do it.

"Hey, partner, it might be better to find somewhere out of the way if you want to think about things," he offered, choosing to call her partner because he felt that Snivy would be considered rude while he couldn't use her name because he didn't know it yet.

Sera keep murmuring words for some time. Words that apparently didn't have sense. The only thing that caught her attention was Lau calling her by the word "partner". She opened her eyes. That made her remember she hadn't actually told her name. She closed her eyes again and thought about that a second time. Then opened again and suddenly jumped.

"Seraphine" she bowed. "Excuse me. Sometimes I just forget the most important things. Just call me Sera. Female Snivy, Calm nature, Overgrow as ability, 0,6 m tall, blood type and birthday on...oh wait, nevermind" she said really quickly. It was not normal for her to act this way, so she was feeling somehow nervous.

The fact of finding a name was making her lose her nerves for some odd reason. That wasn't going to be a good first impression for Lau, so she tried to calm down before thinking again.

"Calm? Seriously?" Lau asked, doubting this fact. She seemed far too outgoing to be of a calm nature, but if she was really a calm nature, then when he was more relaxed, she should balance out his more playful side.

"Well, it's a pleasure to work with you, Sera. That being said, shouldn't we come up with a name together? You seem to be muttering, but I can't catch what you're coming up with," he explained as he looked around at the thinning group as they paired off and left to get the exploration teams going.

"Oh, calm? Yes, I'm calm nature. I'm just acting awkward though. Don't ask me why, I'm usually way more calm than now" Sera actually looked like everything but calm. Then she remembered she had to share her thoughts with her new partner. Oh yes! The team's name. We needed the name before doing anything else. So, what about Sweet Sword? I find it good, but we need to agree. Her look was a bit serious at this point. She was like trying to convince Lau, but still allowing him to make another proposal.

Some teams started to leave. They were from the last ones there, so Sera knew they had to rush, but she was determined to not go until they had a name. However, she was ready to run for her explorer items once the name was decided.

"Sweet Sword?" Lau asked, repeating the name to see how it felt to say. It was a cute name that held power to it, so he gave a nod.

"Team Sweet Sword! Yeah, I like how that sounds," he said, straightening up, since it looked like Sera was planning to drag him along if he wasn't ready to follow her once they agreed on the name.

Yes, I think it's a good name. Now, let's go! I feel I'm simply getting too excited by the exploring idea that my Calm nature has become Impish or Rash. You will most likely see my real self sometime later. Now, go, go, go! Sera nearly pulled Lau again, but this time she tried avoiding that.

The Snivy walked as fast as her tiny legs allowed her to go get their explorer items. Those included a bag for each member and some basics; healing items, berries and other food, a help sphere and two sashes. Sera had no idea of what kind of sashes could those be, but she put it around her neck, without covering her pretty silver necklace. She calmed down and didn't say a word while the Buizel was picking his things. She grabbed the star tightly and slowly breathed.

Lau laughed as his assumption proved to be dead on as he was almost dragged by the Snivy. He was able to keep pace with her as they made it outside to get their explorer items. He dug through his bag to see what all was included, the berries being important to know, but the help sphere and sashes didn't seem overly important to him. However, he took one sash out of the bag and looked at it deciding how to wear it. He eventually took the symbol off of his right arm and replaced it with the matching sash to Sera.

He could feel his heart pounding and his blood rushing as he felt the excitement over the fact that they were an official team now.

"Team Sweet Sword is an official team." the Machamp announced, then waved two of his hands.
"Now you'll need to work out living arrangements as well as start accepting jobs. Try not to take anything out of your range, though" he added.

Lau looked to Sera and gave a smile.
"Well, let's go see what we can do, then, huh?"

Once Machamp said they were an official team, Sera smiled and looked at Lau, nodding. She had to become a real explorer, rescuer or...something else. She was a bit unsure about her future, so she'd try to enjoy the time with the Buizel. The bag didn't feel as heavy as she expected, so she could still move freely.

Let's go search for our first mission, ok? she asked, feeling chills. The idea of adventure, exploring and helping others made her feel enthusiastic.

Actually they had passed the missions board room, so they had to go back. There were other small teams judging the different options they had, seeking for the best paid one, the easiest or most difficult one or maybe just the one they felt like doing. Sera herself preferred to help others, like rescuing someone or escorting a Pokémon on a certain place. She expressed this preference to Lau and asked him about what he would like to do as their first mission.

"Yeah," Lau agreed, dropping to all fours as he led the way to the mission board room. As they got to the board, he got up and was looking over the different choices. He opened his mouth to reply to Sera, but closed it without a sound as things seemed to get loud again.

"Hey, girl. Are you here to put an application to get a team to help you?" one of the older team leaders asked a pink Snivy that had a small bag draped over one shoulder and a blue spiked collar around its neck. The Snivy gave a sweet smile, then brushed past him without a reply. It walked over to the board and glanced over the missions before finding one about a lost child, then turned to leave.

"The last time someone called me a girl, they went missing. Why do you think I'm alone instead of with a partner?" the male voice replied as his blue eyes cut to the one who was offering help. He knew that it was a lie, but he figured that it was better to tell a lie rather than be truthful, since he didn't really want to cause a huge mess just by showing up for a new mission.

Lau gave a sigh and looked to Sera.
"I was hoping that we could take that mission," he explained, a bit disappointed that the easy helping mission was just claimed by some stranger, but he wasn't really outgoing enough to cause a confrontation over it.

Sera didn't really reply at first. That other Snivy caught her eye for some reason, even if he had been a bit rude there.
However, she focused again on the missions when she heard Lau's little complain. That mission...it was about someone lost? Yes, definitely. She didn't exactly remember all the details, but she knew a way to get them.

"Wait for me here, Lau" she whispered and approached the other mysterious Snivy.

She was pretty sure he hadn't noticed their presence, and there were many other teams around, so she had an idea. As she moved near the other Snivy, who was looking to the opposite direction, she started walking faster, nearly running. This made her bump into him, making the mission note fall off his hands. The Snivy was about to say something when...

"Sorry, excuse me, I can be a bit clumsy" Sera said with her softest voice, trying to show herself as a delicate Pokémon.

The male didn't say anything and just left after picking up the note. Lau went near Sera, as she had made the bumping look natural.

"Are you alright?"

"Of course I am." Sera replied once the other left. "Serenity River. The deepest part of it. We must search for a lost Bonsly. The reward seems to be quite good too. C'mon Lau, let's go!"

"Wait for me here, Lau," Sera whispered before walking off. Lau stayed there, a bit confused as he watched the Snivy make her way to the other Snivy.

Prince was looking over the information in his hands when someone ran into him, quite literally, and he fell forward, dropping the sheet that he had just been looking over. He opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off by the female before he had the chance.

"Sorry, excuse me, I can be a bit clumsy," she said in a voice that seemed too gentle for what Lau had seen from her earlier.

Before the pink Snivy got a chance to say something again, the female's partner came running over, wanting to make sure that she was fine.

"Are you alright?" he asked with a little panic to his voice, to which the outsider picked up the mission and made his leave, figuring it was better to just leave instead of getting more involved.

Lau stared at Sera, completely dumbfounded, as her information showed that all of this was a clear scheme just to find out that information. He had a few issues with how she went about it, but kept them to himself as he gave a nod.

"Yeah, a lost Bonsly needs our help," he said with a smile, fluffing out his golden fur as he was glad that they could take this mission, now.

Once the pair made it to Serenity River, Lau started getting really anxious. This was going to be their first real mission, and not only that, they knew that at least one other Pokémon was trying to get to it as well.

"You ready?" the Buizel fusion asked Sera, as he wasn't sure if he was ready for this. After all, he had no clue what he'd be up against while trying to find the lost child.

Once they were ready, standing right in front the location where their first mission would take place, Sera noticed Lau's doubt. She was determined, they had to accomplish their first task properly.

"I am ready, but I'm worried about you. I hope you are the one ready for this" Sera sounded pretty much serious at that point. She put her hand on Lau's right shoulder, trying to calm him. I am definitely willing to fullfil this mission, but if you reach a point in which you are stressed, you'd better tell me she started walking towards the entrance to that dungeon and her final words sounded rather less serious and happier "So basically tell me if you feel bad, got it?" she smiled.

She finally entered the place, leaving Lau a bit behind, thinking about what she had just said and worrying about her partner.
