𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℙ𝕖𝕣𝕗𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕

After years of war. Years of famine and plague. After natural disasters ravaged the earth for generations, a new era has arisen. A time where the only place on Earth left standing is Stockholm City. Welcome one and all, to the world as we know it today. Stockholm City-The Perfect World.

Stockholm City is known as The Perfect World for the reason that everything is completely balanced and in control. From the train that runs through the city to the very emotions of its citizens, everything is balanced perfectly. The one who runs this all? His identity is a secret. The only time one could catch even a glimpse of him would be during his daily broadcasts to the city. Even then, the mystery ruler of Stockholm City is simply a silhouette. Since no one knows his name, he is referred to as Governor X.

While most are content to live under the thumb of Governor X, their decisions decided by him alone, there is indeed a rebellion. It is not hot-headed and brash, but a carefully organized group of citizens who have decided to fight back against the injustices of Governor X's rule. Not only do they fight against the grip of Governor X, but against the social class itself. You see, a certain percentage of the world today is born with a mutation. That mutation's power determines one's class. The Spade Gang, as they call themselves, are the only ones who see past this charade into the wicked truth.

Their main contenders are the Diamond League. Where we once had the fictional superheroes such as Superman or Green Lantern, we now have the real heroes. A powerful group of mutants, these are the bodyguards of Stockholm City against, as Governor X has said, "the horrible people known as the Spade Gang." Besides Governor X, these people have the highest authority in Stockholm City.

There are two sides to this story. But who is the one who sees the truth? Read on, and find out for yourself. Maybe then we will know if the efforts of the Spade Gang are futile, or if the so-called "heroes" are the true villains of this world.

Title: Chapter 1

~DOOLEY~

The hideout of the Spade Gang was well hidden in the bustling metropolis that was Stockholm City. When one is persecuted by the law (though it might be unjustly, depending on who you ask), it was best to keep yourself invisible to the naked eye. So, it would take a lot of work to find the half underground, half disguised building that served as a base for the rebels. So, if a random citizen passed by, they would see a typical run-down building, dirty with broken windows and a crumbling base. But considering that the Spade Gang's hideout was located in a poor and mostly unused part of the city, that was rather common. But beyond the wreckage was a brewing revolution. And a lot of chaos. It seemed that everywhere you went, you could find at least one person, and that was saying something, considering that the Spade Gang was no army. But there was one part of the base that was, to say, a calm in the storm.

Underground, there was a room. A rusty metal plate with the words, TECH ROOM, PLEASE KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING haphazardly scratched into it was hung on it. But beyond that room, one would think they had entered a completely different world. While the rest of the Spade Gang's hideout looked run down and dirty, this clean white room stood out like a sore thumb. The entire room was filled with machines, softly beeping and tiny bulb lights blinking. Above it all, a small robot floated through the air. It had tiny ears, and a long tail that brushed against the strange machines when it floated too close to them, a light scratching noise ensuing that seemed to echo through the mostly quiet room.

But that wasn't the only noise that filled the room. In the corner of the room was a very, very old boombox that looked slightly different, yet just as archaic. Scratchy Beatle's music filled the room, accentuating the quiet sleepy atmosphere that filled the room. In the center of said room, all of the machines had been carefully moved, and there was one that had a panel removed and someone inside it. Well, halfway in it. The mystery person's legs stuck out. To someone who wasn't part of the spade gang, it might have looked rather strange. The cat-like robot floated across the room, it's metallic yellow eyes blinking widely as it alighted on top and chirped. "Just a minute, love, and I'll be done." A voice echoed from inside the machine. "Aaand, there!" There was a click, and the machine rumbled before starting to hum loudly. "Perfect!" The person slid themselves out, revealing a rather strangely dressed mechanic. The bright blue hair was pulled into a ponytail, and while most would think that someone who was a mechanic would dress a lot more plainly, but this one wore bright colors, pinks and purples and blues.

Standing up, she walked to the other side of the room. Running across the wall was a strange, almost shelf like object, although it tipped torwads her at a precaurious angle. The woman sat down in a black, torn leather office chair. Raising her hand, she paused for a minute before making a swiping motion with her hand. Suddenly, the wall lit up with images and code. To most, it would have been a jumble of letters and numbers, but to her, it was her world. When she pressed her hand against the strange shelf like object, a transparent keyboard apeared. Immeadiently, her fingers were flying and she had set to work.

Not 10 minutes later, the woman spoke. "Rover, would you be a dear and grab me some more gum?" With a whirr, click, and a chirp, Rover hurried to a large metal cabinet labeled DOOLEY'S STASH, STAY OUT XAIVER, opened it using its tail, and pulled out a small black box. Moving back over to Dooley, she took the box with a nod and flicked out a peice of gum with her thumb. Popping it into her mouth, Dooley continued her work. Suddenly, there was a notification and a large box apeared that covered most of the screen. Pushing the chair back, she moved so that she was directly in front of the screen. "Good afternoon, Marshall dear, you need something?" Marshall, a middle aged man with dark hair and even darker eyes, nodded curtly. This action caused Dooley to raise an eyebrow, Marshall was the most casual person she knew. Marshall continued.

"I need you to check the feeds coming in from the Diamond Leauge. The reports from our spies have some mysterious rumors that I'd like you to check out." Dooley nodded. "Righto!" Typing something on her keyboard, a box flashed open, words running across it like a waterfall. "Let's see...daily emotional assignments, All things balanced, blah blah blah Oh!" Marshall watched her reaction. "So it's true?" Dooley nodded, blowing a bubble with her gum before letting it pop with a loud smack. "This could be a potential problem if they decide to weed out our base." Dooley grinned. "So you're thinking what I'm thinking?" Marshall smiled back. "Dooley," he said, "Let's organize a little mission of our own."

Title: Chapter 2

~BRONX~

While the Spade Gang was no army, the Diamond Leauge certainly was. The tall ceiling that seemed to go on for miles accentuated the huge room, full of people constantly moving, constantly working. Like a hive, it seemed that no one was sitting around mindlessly, and each had a job. Of course, they all had mutations, so while the Diamond Leauge was hugely different from the Spade Gang, the amount of noise was roughly the same, giving off the aura of a busy airport. But just as the Tech Room was the calm in the storm, there was a certain office, that while it was just as busy as the rest of the Diamond Leauge, it was definitely much quieter. The room was filled with the sounds of shuffling paper, footsteps, phones ringing, and-hissing?

In the back of the room, there were two desks, one on one side of the room and tucked into the corner and another opposite of it. Sitting at the first desk was a woman with dark green hair that seemed to be flat against her scalp, a low bun that just barely stuck out from the nape of her neck where the hair was tied up. Her yellowish eyes and her generally pointed features gave her the look of a snake. When she ran her tongue over her pointed teeth, it was obvious that this woman's mutation was definetly reptilian.

The man, on the other hand, was completley her opposite. While she sat straight-backed in her chair, legs crossed neatly at the ankles, he was slouching, with his feet up on the desk. While his posture was mostly because of his laid-back, unprofessional attitude, it was also because of the wings on his back that were taking up most of the space on the chair. While she was a snake, he was most definitely a bird. The woman gave him a look of disgust as she tapped the screen of her e-tablet. "Honestly, Bronx, you're either the best emotional complier I've seen, or you really need to learn to grow up." "Oh, lay off, Contessa. I got lucky today, I get to be myself." He muttered under his breath with a grin, "I mean, you're uptight and nasty today, so you must have gotten lucky as well." "I heard that!" Contessa's eyes flashed, and she hissed. "Uh-oh, snake girl's getting distracted from her wo-ork!" Contessa clenched her fists. "Bronx..."

Contessa looked down at her tablet. "It apears that Governer X wants us to organize a team to ship weapons to the South Quater." "Uhhh huh." Contessa glared at Bronx when she realized that he was now leaning back in his chair with the front legs in the air, trying to balance a pen on his nose. "Guess who's leading it." "Huh?" "YOU, you unprofessional birdbrain." Bronx's mouth dropped open, causing the pen to fall to the ground with a clatter. Then, he smirked. "Well, as co-head of External Affairs, I say you have to come as well." Contessa groaned. "I have to work with you even more?!" Bronx burst into laughter as she silently raged.

But, eventually, they did in fact manage to organize a team. It was rather difficult since Contessa was sulking and Bronx wouldn't stop laughing, but Contessa's professionalism pulled through. When the team had been alerted, the two of them headed down to the main area. The group of X-Loyalists as well as their constantly bickering leaders headed down to the large room where the trucks were stored. As Contessa and Bronx watched the boxes being loaded, Bronx spoke. "I wonder if the Spade Gang's going to do anything about this."

Title: Chapter 3

~DOOLEY~

Everything else was completely calm. Balanced. Just as Governor X wanted it. For just as a prisoner could accept their fate, the citizens of Stockholm City had never once thought of revolution, of how suffocating their existence was. They saw everything as normal and complete. But underneath the calm, there was most definitely a storm brewing. Little did anyone, even the Spade Gang know, that this storm was much bigger than anything that they had ever seen.

After a long conversation with Marshall, Dooley stood up, pushing the chair against the wall. The com had long since disappeared, but now it was time for the offline part of this mission. Gesturing for Rover to follow, Dooley exited the room and began gathering those who Marshall and herself had decided would join them on the mission. When Dooley stepped into the sandpit that served as a main meeting area for the Spade Gang, she felt a pair of hands cover her eyes. "Guess Who?" a deep voice muttered. Reacting immeadiently, Dooley grabbed one of the hands covering her eyes, throwing them to the floor. Now that she could see, she realized that her "attacker" that was now lying on the ground groaning was actually Xaiver, her only real close friend.

Helping him up, Dooley apologized profusely. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was you." Xaiver laughed, wincing slightly and abruptly stopping his chuckle. "It's my fault for forgetting how paranoid you are." Dooley pretended to pout. "That's a little unfair, now isn't it?" Xavier shrugged. "You did just flip me onto the ground." "Fair enough," Dooley laughed. Then, her expression became serious. "But there's something I have to talk to you about."

"So, new mission? You got it, I'm in." Dooley grinned. "Perfect." Dooley looked around. "Where are the twins?" Xavier pointed down a hallway. "They found a new place to haunt." Dooley gave him a little nudge. "C'mon Xaiver, they're not that bad." Xavier gave her a look of disbelief. "Not that bad?" Dooley raised an eyebrow. "They seemed fine the few times I've talked to them." Xavier shook his head. "You're a madwoman, Dooley. Absolutely crazy." She grinned, beginning to walk towards the passage. "I'll take that as a compliment, dearie."

The passageway in question was rather dark, and quiet as well. There didn't appear to be anyone there, and it was rather musty, hard to see. In Dooley's mind, she joked that there should have been ominous music playing, but instead of turning away she simply squeezed past the trash can blocking the entrance and started looking for the twins. At first, it appeared as if the alleyway was abandoned. But then, there were two figures standing in front of Dooley. "There you are. Wait, what the-"

About 10 minutes later, Dooley, as well as the twins, exited the passegway, her face ashen. Xaiver smirked when he saw her. "Not so sc-" "Shut up." "What?" "Shut up Xaiver." Xavier did, but he was laughing in his head. It took Dooley a minute to recover from the scare that she refused to talk about, but when she did, she gestured for them to wait, and she walked over to a man slumped in a chair that apeared to be too large for him. He was broad shouldered, with long hair that was pulled into a ponytail. His short sleeves exposed the long red tattoos of flames encirciling his arms. "Joe." He did not move, ignoring Dooley. "Joe, I-" Dooley tried to put a hand on his shoulder, but he shrugged it off and stood up. "I heard yer talking, just don't touch me." Dooley nodded. "Alright, looks like we're all set, now we'll be on our way!"
