A Dangerous Rebellion
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Private RP → A Dangerous RebellionMax nodded, moving to make something to eat for the group. "You two want something to drink?"
Octavius nodded, standing by the door. He was focused on the ground, trying to feel any vibrations.
"I'd love something, I'm parched," Jason looked to Octavius and gently patted his shoulder. "Would you like something to drink?"
Octavius nodded. "I would. Water?"
Max chuckled, shaking his head as he poured out some ale. "I was getting myself something a little stronger. Will you two join me on that?"
"I will, and it's up to Octavius if he'd like more than just water," Jason smiled and patted his shoulder again. "Will you join us?"
Max poured Jason a mug before looking to Octavius.
Octavius was stunned to say the least. Never had he gotten anything like this. Hadn't ever been offered it for pain either. Taking a small step forward, he said, "If it is okay, I would like to try it."
Max smiled, nodding Octavius over. "That'a boy. Not that you're a boy. I'd say you're around our age, right?" Octavius shrugged, not knowing for sure. "Well, give it a few weeks. You'll probably end up thick as thieves with this one. I don't think anyone can dislike Jason. Who knows? Maybe you do have a secrete power, Jay, " Max chuckled.
Jason took a good size swig and laughed. "Maybe I do, though it doesn't seem to work on ladies, they often seemed to distracted by their hair to notice." He grinned and looked to Octavius. "How is it?"
Octavius took a full like he'd seen Max. Wrong move. He wasn't used to the liquid and it burned going down. His eyes watered and be swallowed before coughing hard.
Max, who had been laughing at Jason's joke turned to Octavius with concern. He was chuckling over the red heads reaction but still worried about his health. "Sorry. I should have warned you. You okay?"
Octavius blinked, getting himself under control. "That is a drink for leisure time?" He asked, not unkindly, just baffled. "It's strong. It burns," he admitted.
Jason set his glass down and moved to Octavius' side. "It is a bit strong, I should've figured that you hadn't had it in a while or that this was new to you, my fault," He grabbed another glass and got a cup of water that he handed to him. "Here,"
Octavius took the glass thankfully and drank deeply. "Never had anything like it. Thank you, though."
Seeing Octavius was okay, Max turned back to dinner. It wasn't anything fancy. Just finishing touches on a rabbit stew he guessed Vera had started. He waited for the blonde woman to return and let him know how Cassie was.
"Never? Well, we'll start you off on softer things, perhaps some gentle cider... Now that I know that, what do you like to eat?" Jason had hopped up onto the counter to sit as he sipped at his ale.
Max let out a sigh of relief, stirring the pot. "Thank you, Vera."
"I like meat. Once, I had pasta. It was really good too. Other then that, I just had whatever was served. If I didn't, I went hungry," Octavius said, watching the people in the room move. He was stunned by the way Vera talked and acted. She looked like she owned the place. And he could feel the power radiate off of her.she had to be worth a fortune.
"Don't go figuring out my secrets, Octavius," she told him with a wink and a nudge of her hip. "A lady has to keep some air of mystery."
"You think it'll be okay if I go check on her?" Max asked. Vera shrugged, giving him the go ahead. She trusted he'd be quiet.
"So, Octavius," Vera began, looking him over. "How are you doing? Lots of new things headed your way."
"I'm well. I like it here. Jason is different from my other masters. He's...kind," Octavius said, a small smile tugging at his lips.
Jason sighed dramatically and resumed his spot on the counter, his legs crossed and his elbows resting on his knees, his glass beside him. His smile grew then faltered as he realized the truth in Octavius' words. His previous masters had been unkind. He knew they wouldn't have been quite like him, but for Octavius to be so surprised at his kindness. He began to wonder just how unkind they'd been. "Oh, Vera," He said as he hopped off of his perch. "I'd appreciate it if you'd take a look at Octavius' neck to see if you can locate the tracker they have in there. Also, there might be a few marks that he might want, er, wiped clean. Starting fresh as I had said."
Vera frowned, coming over to look Octavius' neck. Gently, she traced light, careful fingers over his neck. Finding a lump, she paused. "May I borrow a dagger?" She asked, holding out her hand. He handed her one, bracing himself as she cut into the skin. Working the tracking chip out of the cut, she frowned. "They shouldn't have put this in you...it isn't safe..." She sighed. Tossing the chip onto counter, she breathed into her hand before placing it on his neck. Octavius flinched, feeling the skin knit back together. "As for your scars and brands, I am afraid I won't be touching them. They tell a story, Octavius. A map to your life. You and everyone who sees you shouldn't forget that. However, if you'd like, I'll take...this one," Vera said, finding his first brand. It'd been placed there by his father. The word, foreign and cruel, was something she would not stand for.
Octavius looked at his wrist where she was pointing. A shudder racked over his body. He nodded, remembering when it was put there. "Please...I don't want that one," he whispered, goosebumps breaking out all over his bare arms and chest.
Jason listened and winced as he watched the chip be removed. He wouldn't ask what it said right now, if Octavius wanted to tell him, he would in time.
Vera brought his wrist to her lips, kissing the old scar gently. When she pulled back, a intricate black tattoo spread over his arm. It was a blooming vine like plant.
Octavius stared at it, transfixed. "Oh," he murmured, studying the ink. "Thank you. Thank you, Lady Vera," he whispered, the title just feeling right.
Jason gasped slightly as he saw the tattoo. "Vera, that's beautiful..." He smiled at Octavius and moved over to look closer at it. "I think it fits you very well Octavius,"
Vera bowed her head slightly. "You're welcome. I always thought there should be beauty in place of pain. Goodness to replace the dark. What do you think?"
Octavius nodded, finding the words she spoke hard to swallow after his life. "That sounds better."
"That's how your life with me will be, at least I hope it will..." Jason said with a half smile.
