"Or maybe it was warriors trying to act smart," Stormhiss's tone
hardened as he took note of the information mentally. "let's check
the border." He decided and started off towards the border line.
I'll show those mouse-brains if they think they can just parade
onto our territory and do what they want.
"I doubt they're that smart. Beside, they might be leading us into
trouble, if they really were warriors. If we follow the scent now,
they might ambush us." Darkwater reasoned, and sniffed the air once
more to make sure that they really were alone. 'Nothing new, then
again no wind is present at the moment.' Darkwater looked around.
"It's a bit quiet out here don't you think?" Darkwater asked as he
followed Stormhiss.
"If they were to ambush us, we'd smell it." Stormhiss stopped at
the border and looked around, seeing the territory on the other
side was empty of cats. "Yeah... I don't see any cats anywhere."
"Well, I do have a better nose, so I'll tell you when were
surrounded by water." Darkwater teased. 'I'm seriously not taking
this seriously,' Darkwater thought and looked around. "It's
probably still early, nothing to worry about."
Stormhiss rolled his eyes. "Yeah, and I'll blindly drown helplessly
while you run around in circles calling for help." He sighed. "I
guess this border's good.. for now." He took a final glance at
Cloudclan territory and turned in the other direction to head for
Fernclan.
"You drown? Impossible, that can't be accomplished, even if I hold
you down." Darkwater said amused. "Then shall we fly there? I'm
sure we can fly," Darkwater said and started hopping after
Stormhiss.
"You literally have your head in the clouds, don't you?" He meowed
teasingly. He padded towards the Fernclan border in thought. "Were
there clans other than Cloudclan getting close to the border, or do
I just have terrible scent?" He asked, knowing he was taking this
half-seriously and half not.
He stopped hopping like a rabbit, and followed after Stormhiss.
"Nah, I'm trying to get yours in the clouds, and it's working.
Guess you're not that serious after all," Darkwater mewed. "You
don't have a terrible scent, it's the wind shifting around, no
other clan has gotten close other then Cloudclan," he said.
He halted and hissed at him. "At least I'm more serious than you,"
Stormhiss shook his head and padded on. "Weird.. there usually
wouldn't be much wind in the jungle." He said, sniffing for
Fernclan cats.
Darkwater sat and licked a paw and swiped it over his ear. "Oh yes,
very serious. Must have had a furball stuck somewhere, to get you
into such a sour mood. That's the problem with most of you
warriors, all work and no play, I was lucky enough to give my
brother some humor before he became Mossriver, wanting to be leader
of the clan." Darkwater mewed. "Guess that's why the leader choose
Stormhiss as your name. That's all you do, now chill out,
take a deep breath and maybe you can clear your head enough to
actually scent the area instead of just wandering around like a
wounded bird." Darkwater mewed. He had caught the scent a while
ago, they were close to Fernclan boarders, and the scent was fresh.
"I know what humor is, mouse-brain. The only reason I'm taking this
seriously is because I'm trying to keep the other clans off the
borders, and with Cloudclan basically everywhere, they might as
well start a war for some 'smart' reason. This is a patrol, not a
play date." He sighed and turned back to the border, then lifted
his head to drink in the air. "At least Fernclan is smart," he
mumbled. "I don't want to put up with those yellowbellies."
Soon, she found a flash of spotted pelt. 'Greyfang...' She
thought and sprang at the deputy. He fell back and started clawing
at her eyes. Greyfang got a strong hold on a patch of fur and
ripped the fur off her left eye. Silverpaw hissed in pain and
clawed madly at his soft stomach.
Palepaw heard yowling and saw Silverpaw and Greyfang. He ran
towards them and started clawing at the deputy's flank. He
screeched in pain and was almost flying towards the Cloudclan
border. "That'll teach him not to mess with Tideclan!" He smirked.
Blackbird groaned as Palepaw took off. She followed and spotted the
deputy running towards the border. "Silverpaw, are you alright?"
She mewed, noticing the apprentice with worry in her tone.
"I'm fine, but Sil- hey are you alright?" Palepaw was cut short by
Silverpaw almost falling over. "I-i'm fine...just a few scratches."
She managed to choke out. "You aren't fine, we need to get
Pigeonpelt!" He said.
"It's not just a few scratches." Blackbird sighed and placed her
tail over Silverpaw's body to help her balance. "Just sit tight.
Pigeonpelt will be here as soon as possible." She whispered
reassuringly.
Darkwater didn't say anything, he knew he was taking this
seriously, he had been working almost non-stop on boarder, and
hunting parties. "I tire of arguing with you, mainly because I've
been working double shifts since I caught Cloudclans' scent on our
side." He said looked around calmly, "at least I discovered that
you have some sort of humor in you. I'm good now, and won't seem so
like a kit now," Darkwater added.
(. . . uhm. . .)
Mossriver sat back and watched his new apprentice fight off the
deputy of Cloudclan. As soon as he saw what happened he went after
the deputy and nearly took off Greyfang's tail. "Don't mess with my
apprentice again," he hissed and gathered some cobwebs and went
back to Silverpaw. "Here," he mewed and placed it over her
wounds.
(That was hard for me to do, I'm glad I managed it. . .)
"It's not like I'm not tired either," Stormhiss meowed and padded
to the border to check the scent markers. "Sure, I have humor, but
I can't just act like a kit with whatever I do... not that you do.
Anyways, this is clear. So.. to Stoneclan..." He said somewhat
sleepily and flicked an ear.
