Evie simply rolled her eyes at Dexter, although she was warming up to his ways. In the past, hardly anyone would show any sort of aggression towards her, even just mild sarcasm as Dexter did--perhaps out of fear--but she found that nowadays she was getting more of a social challenge. It was a shame for Evie that she could only find that among people who were just as broken, if not more, as she was.
Orion stood close to Evie, simply because he was most familiar with her, but turned in surprise when he heard Ivy's tear-altered voice. "Oh, I see... is, uh, everything alright with you two?" He asked, looking at Ivy but finding it more comfortable to maintain eye contact with Elli.

"As if you've never played the innocent card to lure in an enemy!" Rhythe hissed back, baring her fangs. Her eyes flared with rage that seemed to be building with every growing second, but Silver squeezed her shoulder and spoke before she could make the situation worse. He knew her well enough to know that she was more provoked by Magnolia's abrasive approach than the actual matter at hand. Without him, Rhythe most likely would have attempted to murder everyone around them.
"We know now," Silver said calmly, putting a hand up in submission as if it were proof that he wouldn't harm the child. "It's in our nature to be wary, but we were mistaken. It's no issue now."

"Wait, Monty's a grandpa? But... he looks like a kid!" Eclipse said, confusion warping her expression. She acknowledged Percy's friendliness but was now hesitant to accept it; a liar was no potential friend to her. "Are you sure this is true?"
----------
"Mm, it's a good time not to be involved anyway. If your mother and I were still at formal war, I'm sure you'd have no choice to be dragged into it--it's a miracle that war is so expensive," Monty said with a cheeky smile. "How is she faring these days?"

Dawn bit the tip of her tongue; her face hardened. Her hands clenched slightly in frustration, knowing that this situation could be easily handled if she had her powers back. They don't know which direction to go and there's no way to sense us, she reminded herself, slowing down to a walking pace. The chilly winds of the night still pressed against her bare skin and her shoulder blades tensed up in fear as she was reminded of Jasper.
"Walk," she said softly, not daring to take the risk of stopping completely. "Do you have an undershirt? Is there... any cloth you could use for that?" Her fingers lightly clasped the hem of the tank top she wore under her t-shirt. She began to scan the area for any sharp edges they could use to cut cloth, knowing that neither of them had a weapon, and figured that a nearby branch could pierce cloth with enough effort and she could use human force from there.

Jasper simply nodded at Umbra, his eyes slightly narrowed--it was difficult to tell whether it was because he was in the middle of a fight or if he was reading into Umbra's words. He only spent a mere second lingering on Umbra before returning to the matter at hand, beginning to conjure a tornado.

Beau reminded himself to not get annoyed at Mango; it was a completely valid question, after all. He took in a deep breath and loosened his shoulders--he had gotten terribly wrapped up in the matter at hand, especially because it was urgent--and stuck out his hand for Mango to shake it. It was only then that he realized how long it had been since he'd cut his nails and became self-conscious about how sharp and threatening his claws had become.
"Beau Vernia," he said, dropping his royal last name because he was in a hurry. "I'm a friend of hers, and I need to talk to her about something urgently. And you?"

Elli raised a weak hand to greet Dexter as he entered, returning his confused look when he saw Oliver in his arms. Following them was Evie and Oliver and a tall stranger that he had never seen--his eyes were drawn immediately to the person's intimidating weapon, but the way that he held his face with a slight smirk and general laxness eased Elli's worry. He had an entire dead boar, but the fact that the normally cynical Evie was comfortable around the stranger spoke miles in comparison.
He looked down at Ivy to see if she noticed them. The stranger seemed to show concern but Evie simply walked passed them as if she hadn't seen in the first place.
"Quite the shelter you have here," he noted, looking for a place to set the food down.
"Better than the bloodfest out there," Evie replied.

Rhythe gritted her teeth but Silver responded before she had a chance to snap back. "Magnolia," he replied, softly as to not draw Percy's attention away from the conversation he was having with Eclipse, "our King gathered a band of children young as he is and trained them to be assassins. I was one of them--he's training Eclipse to go down the same road. You need more caution in this castle than anywhere else."

"Yeah!" Eclipse replied happily. She then paused and quickly blurt out, "Maybe. We might live here now. I'm don't really know. Who's your grandpa?" She cocked her head in interest, assuming that Monty wasn't the actual owner of the castle.
---------
Monty nodded. "You have a better set of morals than either of your parents. I'm glad to see that... although I'm sure your mother is bothered by your lack of interest in politics."

Void, who was most definitely still bothered that Lucius perched on her shoulder, scrunched his button nose and huffed. Knowing that there was no point but still being a creature of pettiness, he slipped into Wither's lap and laxly lay on his side. She rested her hand on his flank and gave Lucius a smile that said too many things to be read.
"I'm sure we'll find out about that one day," she replied.

Beau strolled down the hallways, his tail flicking behind him suavely, and stopped when he realized that there was a person in front of Silver's apartment. He scanned the stranger with his arms crossed and his dark eyebrows furrowed. With a single finger, he pulled down his facemask and cleared his throat. "Have you seen the girl that lives here?" Beau asked gruffly, his ears pinned back.

Silver was the first one to notice the short figure that was approaching (he wasn't very engaged in the conversation that was being held anyways) and stared at it with a heavy, piercing gaze. It was short, but he knew better than most that even a child was capable of posing a threat.
Rhythe realized when the figure was much closer and, upon seeing Silver's cynical look, slipped her hand down her thigh and retrieved a serrated blade that she held far too calmly in her hand.
Eclipse looked up from Dusk when she felt Rhythe move and was alerted by the sight of the weapon, shifting to get a better look at what was going on. She saw another child that seemed to be her age and excitedly walked forward to meet him.

He blinked and seemed to take a moment to process the information. His face was neutral as he sipped his tea--a rare feat, as he usually wore his characterizing knowing smirk--but by the time he had set the cup down on the table he seemed to have made his stance on what his son had just told him. He nodded solemnly.
"That's very interesting, Jackson--I've never heard of such methods used by vampires in all of our history. I suppose the negative stigma and our past regarding the priests have dubbed them as more of an enemy rather than... a tool, of sorts, as you have. Your youth makes you think differently; I'm glad you're using your intelligence for a cause."

Wither pursed her lips when she laid her eyes on the sharp blade in his hand. It glared underneath the fluorescent lights that were built into the ceilings, which somehow seemed to emphasize its danger. Wither had been taught much better to not let anyone handle a dangerous object around her--the rule applied even more strongly to a stranger; although Magnolia trusted him, she would not let Lucius have such power over her. She could feel Void tighten himself around her ankle, indicating that even he advised against it.
"I think I'll pass. I believe you," she said stiffly, drawing her elbows back and folding her hands in her lap neatly in front of her.

Dawn's eyes flicked towards him when she noticed the light. It was then, for some reason, that her protectiveness over Fallow began to sink in--to be ripped away from her sister the same day that they were reunited was too much for her motherly instincts to handle. She swallowed and channeled her focus to Maxwell.
"That's good enough. It'll probably be back when we get far enough for you to go alone." She kept running, holding back from a full sprint because of Maxwell's injuries. We'll be able to cover enough ground by the time they've begun looking... neither of them knows the right direction anyway.

The creatures were smaller than Jasper had thought they would be--he began to calculate, as he drew closer, the amount of effort it would take for each of them. He didn't have the time nor the will to go overboard. Jasper slowly stood up on Cedar's back with his knees bent. The clouds began to circle overhead, so dark they were almost black, with the sounds of crackling lightning and friction escalating slowly. A feral, shadowy creature reached its shedding hand towards him and Jasper swiftly flicked his staff, a thick serpentine collection of neon lightning cracking down on it.
The creature fell to the floor, its corpse a burnt mass that bore hardly any resemblance to what it had been before. Cedar occupied himself with another winged creature, cawing loudly.

Wither listened and nodded periodically with interest. She hadn't been born with any particular ability--trends in her family were hard to pin down--so her father had given her the parasol as compensation. She supposed that it was more for the press and salvaging his strong image, but either way, it was a gift that was dear to her heart.
"Are there any repercussions to your ability? As far as I know, the downsides of abilities can be pretty brutal."

Silver saw him try to catch her out of the corner of her eye and bit her lip to stifle her regret. She couldn't bear the thought of causing him pain and leaving him as she had, but leaving him in danger was a far worse alternative. I'll get him killed if I stay... I'll get myself killed if I stay, she thought, quickly climbing down the stairs with his gift in hand.

"It was a mess--Umbra came out and, obviously, made a bunch of threats," she said, speaking quickly as she ran, "so I made a distraction before that serum kicked in and in a desperate grasp called for beasts... they're going to be trailing behind us once this is done so we need to book it." Dawn took in a deep breath and continued to bolt her way through the forest.
"Can you feel your power coming back at all? When did they give you the shot?"
Dawn resisted the urge to look back when she heard Umbra's voice. Her gut tightened at the thought of Fallow and the messy aftermath she would have to pay--knowing Jasper, she'd have to do something to prove her loyalty--but she knew that Fallow would be generally safe and that was all that mattered.
I'll have to follow him a good amount... he's too hurt to make it far enough on his own...

Fallow's eyes widened and she shrunk back in her seat, instinctively curling up into a ball.
Belle threw open the door of her room and held up a gun. Her eyes were clearly tired and her words were barely comprehensive, a stream of raging cusses that were intoned like a question.
Jasper stood up and clenched his staff, his glare resting on Belle. He answered simply with gritted teeth, "It was Justin." Belle's eyebrows knitted in confusion as he walked towards the door.
She began to follow but he cut her off. "Stay here with Fallow. They're beasts; your pistol has no chance against them." The wind blasted him out the door of the cottage and into the air, where he suspended until Cedar flew beneath him. Jasper mounted and they darted off towards the sound of the danger.

Elli, surprised at how quickly things had escalated, reassuringly rubbed her shoulder. "It's alright," he said close to her ear, his voice low and soothing. He put a hand on her head and simply let her cry.

Adeline nodded and looked at his book. "What do you do with them once you finish?" She crossed her leg over her knee and rested her chin on her hands, her iris slitting momentarily as she looked at him.

Wither nodded but made no effort to actually move to either spot until Void pawed at her, wanting to laze around on something. She followed him to the couch near Lucius and watched as he plucked the instrument. "Where did you learn to heal? She asked, inviting light conversation.

Monty's eyes trailed after Percy. There was nothing too dangerous to find in the castle, and he had more or less let Jackson do his own thing when he was young, so instead, he turned to his son and snapped his fingers.
When the white haze cleared from their visions, they sat in the garden. The table in front of them held a pot of tea and a small plate of gelatinized blood. Monty sat on the arm of his chair, a cup in hand and his legs crossed. "What else have you been up to?"

Silver's eyes were widened in surprise, but there was a strange tint of pain to them. She sighed, "Maybe something could have happened, in an alternative situation." She stared at his face and opened her mouth as if she was going to say something else, but found that she couldn't express her feelings with sufficient words.
"G....goodbye. Hopefully, we can talk again later." She promptly shook his hand, smiled, and darted away.

Dawn gritted her teeth. She could feel the serum in her right arm as it slowly gnawed at her senses and her connection to the nature around her; it felt as if her skull had been stuffed of cotton. She clenched her left fist, not bothering to waste her energy on getting up, and mustered the power that was ebbing away. Her skin illuminated with the same lime-green light that Fallow had and tapped into her connection to the living creatures around her.
She whittled it down to the strongest ones she could find and beckoned them until she felt her connection die entirely. It was only then that she jumped to her feet and ran towards the barn, throwing open the door and grabbing Maxwell by the arm swiftly.
"We're leaving right now. A horde of beasts is about to wreck the area, and we need to use the distraction to bolt, alright? You've been injected--they won't be able to sense us, but they'll go after Umbra." Dawn dragged him out of the door and circled around to the back of the barn, just as the wind began to violently shake the nature around them. A high-pitch whistle erupted from nearby, cracking the dome of darkness around them. Dawn looked up at the crack and inhaled deeply, waiting for the beasts to attack the source of power so that the dome broke enough for them to escape.
Jasper will protect Fallow, she thought, her mind racing, but then he'll use her as a bargaining chip... he'll have to come out here to defeat the beasts, which means we'll have them on our tail.
A sudden force slammed into the dome, shaking the ground and almost knocking Dawn off balance. She held on tighter to Maxwell as the dome shattered and ran out into the forest.
