Uh the gap keeps getting larger therefore you get less as you go on.

I think it makes sense that the gap widens ^^ After all, the most common complaint for SCEs was the fact that some people could click a lot more than others. This new feature serves to dampen the difference, yet still giving enough motivation for you to click beyond the first 1,000 clicks.
