hello! this is the official post for 'the islanders'!

the history of ka'huna
there was a spot of land, surrounded by sea. There were mountains in the northern bayside, and a vast plains separating it from the luscious, evergreen forest that grew in the south. Animals with special abilities began to settle there and colonize, making groups called 'tribes'. The species that settled there were named 'Settlers'. There were many tribes, but there were four that were most powerful: The Mountains Tribe, the Plains Tribe, the Forest Tribe, and the Ocean Tribe. They lived in harmony for ages, even when the bank flooded and the land, named Ka'huna, became an island.
But one day, disease broke out in the Ocean Tribe. They were disbanded and scattered throughout Ka'huna, not to be seen again.

Manoki stretched out his wings as he fluttered onto the grass, gazing upward at the three leaders through the back of the crowd. He looked at his talons, covering his face with his wings. "Are you okay?" Liv'wor rasped, putting a paw on his head. "Fine." Manoki murmured. Alaska curiously pawed at a daisy, her head cocked to the side. "Why are we here, Dadas?" she asked after a moment, looking back up.
"We all have something to discuss, Alaska." Manoki responded.
"Are you okay, Dada Manoki?" Alaska questioned, sitting beside him. "Fine. I just have.. bad memories." he said, his voice strained.
"Do you miss Auntie Squeaky?" Alaska asked.
"Maybe I do." Manoki shuffled his wings awkwardly and once more buried his face in them.

Trigon stood in a dark corner at the meeting. He was silent. Simply listening to the others.

"That's nothing to be embarrassed 'bout!" Alaska squeaked, patting his head with her tiny gray paw.
"I miss her too! She was nice. She also brought me tasty squirrels!" she chirped. Liv'wor purred at his daughter and curled his dark ginger tail around her.
Manoki lowered his wings and smiled slightly at Alaska. "Yeah, she was nice. ...You always think with your stomach, don't you?" he joked. "You're going to be unable to hunt if you get too fat! You're already pretty big now." He slipped one wing under the small pup's stomach.
"Hey! I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!" Alaska squeaked, fluffing out her fur irritably. Liv'wor shook his head and settled back down beside Manoki, folding his feathered wings against his sides. "When are the leaders goin' to start?" he grumbled in his gruff voice.

DRILLDRUM coughed, hopefully drawing the attention of all those there. His wings fluttered in an attempt to get settled before he began speaking. “Thank you all for coming,” he said. “I hope you all are aware of who I am and what is going on. If you do not know, my name is Drilldrum. I am the leader of the Mountaneers. What we have gathered here to discuss today is the Marine Menace.” He coughed once again. “Now I will turn it over to my fellow leaders, Marshon and Baxton.”

WILDFIRE huffed. What was the big deal with these terrorists? She reckoned she could take them out. It wouldn’t be too hard. Just... annoying.

FERRAN OF THE PLAINS was absolutely ecstatic to be in the meeting. There were more creatures, each of them a potential friend! He had settled himself down near the middle of the crowd, and made small talk with the surrounding animals. When the great old Griffin had finally started the meeting, he listened intently, smiling all the while.

AENEAS darted from one coral outcrop to the next, his purple fish tail nearly blending in with the colorful coral. His hair floated gently in the water, and the webbing between his fingers had yet to fail him. He twisted this way and that, keeping an eye out for fellow Marine Menace members.

Dylise kept her eye open to see if anything was happening much. Disappointed, she climbed down the tree and took a look around. She sighed.

Baxton's wings folded against his sides as he looked around. "Hello. I am Baxton. I lead the Foresthunters of the Forest. As Dilldrum said, we are here to discuss the terrorists wreaking havoc on our land. Many have suffered from these.. monsters. A quarter of the forest was burnt down into a wasteland because of them. I wish for revenge on the behalf of all of the tribes that were destroyed, and for my destroyed territory. We need ideas. We need a plan. Now, Marshon, why don't you add something?" he added, turning his head to face Marshon.

The lioness eyed him warily - he never spoke this much whenever they had met up. "Glad you're breakin' outta your shell... friend. Anyways, I'm Marshon of'tha Plainsfolk. Now, yadayadayada, there's terrorists. Yup. My territory suffered a bunch, and there's not enou' food. I agree with the idea of needing a plan, but we need to know what we're up against. We've all suffered a lo', but I guess we need t' band t'gether. Drilldrum, you have any ideas?" she asked in her thick accent, looking from Baxton to Drilldrum.

Manoki looked up at the leaders. "Hope they don't argue or anything." he mumbled. "That wouldn't end well."
"Don' worry, Manoki." Liv'wor soothed, curling his tail around his mate. "They'll be fine. Aftur' all, they were chosen t'be leaders of the Great Tribes."

(if i weren't trying to make sure this gathering doesn't go down in flames, i'd be evil and try and get baxton or marshon to start an argument.)

DRILLDRUM nodded. “The first thing I think we need to do is strengthen the borders. Ideally, guards every ten feet or so. If they can’t get in, they can’t hurt anyone.” He looked about at the others in the meeting. “However, I doubt we’ll have many volunteers.”

WILDFIRE smiled at her leader’s words. When Drilldrum began to speak, her tail went ‘swish swish swish’ across the ground in agitation. Drilldrum was right- there weren’t enough Islanders to properly defend the borders.

FARRAN OF THE PLAINS had violently pushed his hand into the air when Drilldrum talked about volunteers. “I volunteer! I volunteer!” He smiled and nearly stood, before quietly realizing he had made a huge scene.

AENEAS eventually became distracted by a pair of colorful fish, swimming away from the reef as he chased them.

Lightpaws looked over at Ferran and grinned sheepishly, and then turned back over towards his leader.

Marshon eyed Ferran, lashing her tail and narrowing her red eyes. She looked back at Drilldrum. "That'd work." she rasped.

Baxton flexed one wing. "Good idea. We should also start making second bases, just in case. Maybe the youth, their mothers, and the elderly first?" He suggested.

Manoki watched as Liv'wor stood up. "Hey, yeah? What 'bout us rogues? What d' we do?" he demanded. "'Fter all, we don' have anyone t' represen' us, so that lies on you." he said, waving his tail in the air. Manoki sighed and pecked him lightly. "Sit down." he said gently, yet sternly. Alaska looked up at the leaders in confusion.

DRILLDRUM stood and stepped off of the large rock he had been laying on. Even though he was old, he he still carried himself with pride. He threaded though the creatures till he reached Liv’wor. “Rouges can go where they wish. I personality extend an invitation to all rouges- you may live with the Mountaneers until this Menace has been dealt with. You don’t have to join- just pull your weight and we won’t have problems.”

WILDFIRE almost chuckled at Drilldrum’s bold move. By opening the Mountaneers up to Rouges, he gained free border guards. “Smart move” she said aloud to herself.

FERRAN OF THE PLAINS’s cheeks burned with shame. He probably shouldn’t have burst out like that. But still- if he didn’t volunteer, who will?

Marshon shrugged. "Guess I'll d'tha same. More border guars' and people. But, remember Liv'wor, you ain't welcome with us Plainsfolk, ya stinkin' traitor." she growled, glaring at the winged cat, remembering when he left the Plains.

Baxton eyed Marshon. "Hm. Well, since everyone else is opening their borders to rogues.. alright, alright."

Manoki sighed. "Well, I suppose we should join a group. Better for us and Alaska. You two want to join a group?" he asked. Alaska's ears perked up. "Yeah, more people!" Liv'wor shrugged. "Fine, whatever."

FERRAN OF THE PLAINS nearly squealed with glee over how awesome all the leaders were. He settled for smiling broadly and swishing his tail.

Marshon looked around. "What now?" she whispered to the others.

Manoki looked back up. "The Mountaineers seem like the best option." he commented. "We might have to travel far, but they seem friendlier than the others."

DRILLDRUM glanced at Marshon. “We could go back to our respective territories. I know for sure that I’m going to have a tough time getting volunteers. If the situation worsens, we may need to take refuge somewhere else. I’d like to have that not be an option.”

"As I said, we should find second bases that we can go in just in case." Baxton said. "Anyways, I'm heading back to the forest. Foresthunters, to me!" he called, flying down one of the stones.

Marshon stared after him, eyes narrowed, and then looked back at Drilldrum. "I'm doin' th' same. We shoul' probably listen to tha' bat. Wonder why he's been so chatty. Goodbye, Drilldrum. Ah hope to see you again." she mewed and walked down the stones. "Plainsfolk! Come here!"

Manoki watched the two leaders leave and then looked up at Drilldrum. Though elderly, he still seemed to be elegant. He hoped he would welcome them.
"Well, we should probably rest up if we're to get moving tomorrow." he said to Liv'wor and Alaska.
"Aight'. What route should we take? Aftur all, I'm not exactly welcomed in th' Plains." Liv'wor questioned, herding Alaska onto his back. The small husky pup clung on, forelegs around his neck and hind legs just behind his ginger wings.
"We'll have to take the risk. We can discuss plans later, though." Manoki said. "I think a certain pup's getting tired." he teased, pecking Alaska on her forehead.
"I'm not tired!" she squeaked, only to end her words in a yawn. "Okay, maybe a little..."

Lios breached through the black, shining water, stars reflected off of it and the moon a beautiful silvery disc. She grinned and began to swim about, doing various tricks, trying to find Aeneas.

(fun fact: lios has a harley-quinn like obsession with aeneas. like, she probably sends him anonymous gifts a ton. she's a creep.
