I think the title explains the whole thing. i would like to suggest making palpad free. its an important tool for communication on here and great for helping newer players to understand certain things on ph or finding friends on here.

Since there are a lot of inactive users who often leave this site after a short time of actually being active i think having easier access to the palpad could help in some cases to make the start on here easier and more fun for new users.

As new users usually don´t have much money i think the con inflation isn´t that important in this single case (even though i don´t think we should remove costs elsewhere, since we still need tools which stop/decrease inflation).

What do you think about this? Do you think instant access to palpad could help new users to enjoy pokeheroes more and stay active? Or do you think my suggestion would cause problem i didn´t thought of/wrote down in this post?

Pal-pad really has the same reasons as the alarm clock item and the egg radar notificator. I wouldn't suggest it to be automatically free, because it is one of those items that shouldn't be handed on silver platter because of game play wise. Such as


There isn't a water all in the berry garden because of gameplay

All places aren't unlocked automatically because of gameplay

Egg radar chips aren't unlocked automatically because of gameplay

You need a milker to milk miltank because of gameplay


So you see, pal-pad just isn't one of those items that needs to be given for free since essentially PMing already exists. Besides, pal-pad already does cost very little. Oh, and it also has a feature which makes friends only able to pal-pad. If it was for free and everyone who had this turned it on. All new players would just PM anyway making it free automatically pretty pointless. I also don't see how this makes new players want to stay longer? In fact, its the complete opposite in my opinion since it and many other features are there so you have to work for it by interacting and being online.

Well the palpad is much more comfortable and faster than pms. Especially on mobile devices where pms are annoying to start.

And for sure this would lead to faster help if a beginner has questions its not as hidden in the menu as pms and if you get help at the start your off course more successful at the start and dont just stop because you didnt understand some mechanics.

And what would be the big deal of making it free? As you say its just 500pd. Additionally users would have to find out how to get it in the first place.

Maybe some kind of mentoring-system could be implemented beside that to help newer user s with their start (but that would lead to far and isnt part of this suggestion)

Solomonbunny: then give it to nrw players? Its not an advantage in terms of game-mechanics and still makes the start more comfortable. It especially helps getting part of the community and finding friends. Its maybe the most used commuication-tool on pokeheroes so why dont we just give it to everyone?

Full support. I've noticed that there are relatively not-new users who still don't have a Pal Pad, which is irksome because Pal Pad messages are better at instant communication than PMs.

Receiving the Pal Pad for free wouldn't change the gameplay itself at all. Can you make PD with it? Not directly; you can negotiate trades through it, but you can use PMs for that as well. Does having it make game progress easier? No.

Let's look at your examples. Does having a water all/all places unlocked/egg radar chips/milker change the gameplay? Yes, most definitely yes. Can you make PD with them? Obviously yes. There are reasons those aren't given out for free; take classic RPGs, for instance. You have to upgrade your equipment with virtual currency because that's something that affects the gameplay drastically, but they don't make talking to your party members a pay-per-use item.

I honestly feel that it's one of those ease-of-use items that was only added to the store at a price because it wasn't there to begin with, but rather was coded into the game at a later point.

@Daiyousei, yes pal-pad doesn't directly do anything with gameplay but it's still a quality of life item nevertheless just like egg radar notificator and alarm clock. The main point of pal-pad was so you would be able to communicate while interacting and doing other PH features, not so you stop PM'ing. In fact, almost every mod still uses PM'ing since its more formal and allows images and bbcode. So in a way, it does affect gameplay, and I wouldn't want it to be free. Besides, when you get your free PD in the beginning of the game, whats the first thing you do? Get the lowest costing items in the key items page. So the pal-pad and the other cheap items are in a way involved with the tutorial.

You keep on saying its easier to use than PM'ing and new users will use it more? But really, whats so bad about PM'ing, and how is it more hidden? When I started out on PH, I had no trouble finding PM'ing, its literally in the community tab and pal-pad is literally in the header.

Yes, that's the whole point of making it 500pd. Its so new players have a sense of accomplishment when they buy their own first item.

Yes, they are very similar. But pal pad isn't meant to replace PM'ing, its meant to be used by friends and comes with the feature to not give new members/not friends the ability to use it and contact them.

well its of course less hidden, since its always on the screen...sure its quality but as i said you have to find it first to buy it and having instant access could be really helpful...i mean i personally like helping others e.g. if they put up trades wrong via gts...but if im on my mobile its just annoying to type a complicated nickname instead of just the first letters via palpad to help them and its a faster way than pms

you say its an accomplishment to buy it...like how? its cheap and still i don´t know why it shouldnt be free at all since there kinda is no con in making it free...if just a hand full of users does not give up on ph because of some help of friendly users via palpad its totally worth to make it free in my opinion

To be honest, I support this. I never really understood why the PalPad wasn't automatically unlocked. I get that the Private Messages exist, but the PalPad isn't a feature that makes gameplay easier or a rare item or anything.

What's the palpad?

The palpad is a chat-tool on pokeheroes, which in my opinion is a lot more comfortable than pm´s
