ok So I've tried to release this guy quite a few times. but It keeps coming back.

Hi I'm Unrelease able

Could this perhaps have to do with it being on someone else's battle team?

Well, pokémon in a Battle Team can't be released, so that could be it.
Though... They shouldn't be tradeable either ^^'
