I've sent out two of my Eeevees to two of the found areas and set the timer for five minutes and i have yet to get my returning counter. All it says is Missioned started: __ minutes ago

Those areas don't have a set end time - it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. The areas that you unlock or get in a map don't have a certain timer on them, so don't worry about it ! they'll end soon!
