The wiki says that using the Griseous Orb will trigger a mini-game, but I tried it in Chrome and Internet Explorer and nothing happened on either one.

The keyword here is randomly. You don't instantly get to play the mini game. Just keep playing the regular game - do what you always do, you don't have to do anything special to trigger the mini game - it'll appear sooner or later. :)
