Suggestion: Make Dragon-type Pokémon use Normal Gems at the Gem Collector since Dragon Gems are ludicrously expensive. If that's too common, the price (in Normal Gems) can be multiplied by 1.2-1.5 times (most Dragon-types already have high rarities, so they'll need more gems anyway)

Reasons: With prices bordering those of the Kalos legends, no one would buy those for a hunt, making them useless. Instead of, removing them, why not lower the price to something more reasonable? This would speed up such hunts, especially since many of them have megas.

As I've never used the Gem Collector or been on a Shiny Mega hunt, I'm not sure if this suggestion would be helpful though.

This is a great idea. Most Kalos legendaries such as Xerneas/Zygarde cost a tremendous amount of dragon gems, 75. Imaging trying to complete the gem challenge for Raylong 15 times, thats how hard it is. Though the other gems are reasonable, since rumbling nets 5/6 of the available gems. Bug, Fairy, Dragon are just too hard to get. Making them just a pain to collect. Imagine shiny hunting them DX. But they shouldn't take out dragon gems, just lower it to like 30 or something and you have to get 80 normal gems with it.

People often think the PH sprites are bland. Do they shade? Well, yes they do. You'll be surprised how much care is taken for these sprites.

This is late, but I'm not talking about the Kalos legends, which are rare for a reason. It's possible as long as you put your heart to it, since you usually get multiple when you do (like treasure hunt or opening boxes).

I'm talking about ordinary Dragon-type Pokémon at the Gem Collector, like Axew or Noibat or Bagon, etc.

Adding onto the original idea:
Normal could only be used for pure dragon types. To stay true to the type chart, for dual typed dragons, we could use the secondary type.

For example, Dratini and Noibat would require Flying gems, and Axew would require Normal gems.

Full support!

I was wondering if starting an Axew hunt was worth it. It's just a Rare Pokemon. However, ordering one egg from the gem collector costs 2M PD (40 dragon gems), which is just ridiculous.

So either make dragon gems easier to obtain (No, let it be the way it is.)
Or implement Meep's idea. (Yes yes please do it)

@PkmnTrainerV

I chose Normal Gems partly because they're more expensive/in demand than other gems. I don't think it would be fair if Noibat was potentially cheaper than Axew even though it has a higher rarity just because it has a secondary type. Though maybe the Dragon Gem portion of the cost could be replaced by Normal Gems?

I personally have no issue to them all just requiring dragon gems. I made the secondary type mini-idea just so we could be more true to the current system and things make a tiny bit more sense.

I would just like to point that Dratini is pure Dragon-type, only Dragonite gains the Secondary Flying-type.

I understand that Dragon Gems aren't the most... profitable to use at the Gem Collector, but I'm not sure if 1:1 replacing them with Normal Gems would be the way to go ^^'

...I was more questioning if replacing them with Normal Gems [instead of other typed gems] was the way to go, rather than the 1:1 thing ^^'

I know that Normal Gems are more in demand than other Gems, but it would be more fair to distribute the Dragon Gem-pokémon among all other types, rather than just Dragon.
[And what about Eggs asking for Fairy and/or Bug Gems?]

Er... the cost of Fairy and/or Bug gems is nowhere near the cost of a dragon gem. Fairy/Bug gems are closer in cost to the regular gems.
EDIT: A visit to the price check shows that the cost of a fairy gem is equal to the cost of a normal gem, and Bug gems are just 100 PD more expensive than the regular rumble ones (it costs less than even a normal gem!), compared to a whooping 50000PD for a dragon gem.

Well....I chose Normal also because they're 'neutral'. I did consider that, but Bug types have no relation to Dragon types and it's odd to use the type that Dragon types are weak to. If the Dragon-typed Pokemon were split among all the types (I'm not entirely sure if you mean each Dragon Pokémon is assigned a different type of gem or Dragon Pokémon requiring a mix of gem types), I think it would be very confusing to keep track of

I just figured it was something to consider, because even though there's a price difference, Fairy Gems are about as difficult to obtain as Dragon Gems.

Same goes for replacing Dragon Gems with just Normal Gems; this would severely impact the prices of said Normal Gems and I feel like they shouldn't be considered as the "replace all" solution to fix the Gem Collector.
I'm not saying that Dragon Gems should get a mix or several other Gems or that all Gem types should be distributed among the Dragon types we have, I just feel that Normal Gems shouldn't be the only type that Dragon Gems can be replaced with. Maybe possibly consider some of the Gems with the lowest amount of pokémon as a replacement gem as well?

Oh yeah, that's true. Though replacing them with say, Fighting or Ground Gems seems a little out of place. People usually don't use gems except for Shiny Mega hunts, I think, so maybe considering types with fewer Pokémon isn't the right way to go either

Regarding the Fairy Gems, given the rarity (and thus higher cost) of both Dragon-typed Pokémon and Fairy Gems, I'm not too sure if that's a viable option either.

I wonder if people would be willing to spend 1 Dragon Gem on one or at most three eggs. Eggs could be held by the Gem Collector (in a separate collection area?) if your party is full. Though, this might be an issue since people may only want to adopt one egg and leave a few empty party slots
