It's Cacturne!

Cacturne is the zodiac pokemon of April 1st and is known as the 'Scarecrow' Pokemon.

Type: Grass | Dark
Ability: Sand Veil
Hidden Ability: Water Absorb
Gender Ratio: 50 Males : 50 Females
Generation: Gen 3
Evolution line: Cacnea evolves into Cacturne at level 32.
Egg group: Grass/Human-Like
Pokedex: It becomes active at night, seeking prey that is exhausted from the day's desert heat.
EHP: 5,355

Cacturne is based on a cactus, possibly the saguaro, and a scarecrow. Its face is similar to a classic Halloween jack-o'-lantern, referencing the tendency for scarecrows to have pumpkins for heads.

Name origin
Cacturne and Noctus are a combination of cactus and nocturnal.

In the Anime
Cacturne made its main series debut in 'A Cacturne for the Worse', under the ownership of Harley. It has been his signature Pokémon ever since.


The Easter Troll

The tradition of Easter egg hunting continues on Pokeheroes! Many new, beautiful and creative eggs are hidden throughout the site, 20 in number. Many trainers have found all 20 eggs within the 1st day of the event while some other trainers are not lucky enough to find even 10 of them. Finding 18 eggs makes you eligible to get the event Pokémon and there is an item prize for finding 12 eggs. The event Pokémon is still a mystery and will be disclosed on April 2nd. The event ends on the 1st of April which is the APRIL FOOLS DAY! Whether our respected admin do something special on Aprils fool’s day or not, time will tell.

Good luck on finding all the eggs because…………..GOTTA FIND 'EM ALL!

Nice :), this seems like a awesome idea. Really curious why it started 8 month agos but you released a news today though. Anyway, can I make the riddles XD.pal-padded the answers, they were really easy

Or I have some ideas for new topic. I know two from the last time I tried to make a news system, it was player of the week and weekly joke. I would choose player of the week if I could, seems like news isn't something you have to worry about much as there are two writers for it

People often think the PH sprites are bland. Do they shade? Well, yes they do. You'll be surprised how much care is taken for these sprites.

Its Victreebel!

Victreebel is the zodiac pokemon of April 8st and is known as the 'Flycatcher' Pokemon.

Type: Grass | Poison
Ability: Chlorophyll
Hidden Ability: Gluttony
Gender Ratio: 50 Males : 50 Females
Generation: Gen 1
Evolution line: It evolves from Weepinbell when exposed to a Leaf Stone. It is the final form of Bellsprout.
Egg group: Grass
Pokedex: It pools in its mouth a fluid with a honeylike scent, which is really an acid that dissolves anything.
EHP: 5,355

Victreebel and its pre-evolutions are based upon carnivorous pitcher plants.

Name Origin
Victreebel seems to be a combination of victory (corrupted to make a pun on tree) and bell (referring to its bell-like shape). The maximum number of characters possible to make up a Pokemon's name in Generation I was ten, and this is likely the reason for the misspelling of bell as bel.

In the Anime

James's Victreebel

James had two separate Victreebel (traded for each other in Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid), both of which evolved from Weepinbell while in his possession. His second Victreebel was expelled from the group by Jessie after it attacked her. It landed near his first Victreebel, both Pokémon fell instantly in love, and they hopped off together into the forest. They have not been seen since.

Other

A Victreebel appeared in Danger, Sweet as Honey!, where Axew stumbled upon it and had a look inside its mouth. Knowing how dangerous it was, Pikachu and Meowth tried to drag him away, but Victreebel woke up and bit Meowth instead. Pikachu and Axew managed to pull Meowth out, but Meowth was poisoned in the process.
Multiple Victreebel appeared in Thawing an Icy Panic!, under the ownership of Ramos. They attacked Clemont when he accidentally broke the fence of Ramos' ranch, but they were stopped through the intervention of Ramos himself.

A Victreebel debuted in Pokémon Scent-sation!.
A Victreebel appeared in The Kangaskhan Kid.
A Victreebel appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers.
Several Victreebel appeared in The Power of One.
A Victreebel appeared in Celebi: The Voice of the Forest and Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias.
A Victreebel appeared in the opening of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
Multiple Victreebel made brief cameo appearances in Destiny Deoxys and Giratina and the Sky Warrior.
A Victreebel made a cameo appearance in Arceus and the Jewel of Life.
A Trainer's Victreebel appeared in Under the Pledging Tree!.

Beautifly is a combination of beauty and butterfly. It may also be a play on beautify.

May's Silcoon evolved into a Beautifly in Seeing is Believing. From then on, Beautifly was used in many Pokémon Contests during May's Hoenn journey. In fact, Beautifly was called upon so often that May's Torchic began to feel jealous of it. Beautifly was eventually left at the Petalburg Gym after May competed in the Hoenn Grand Festival. Dex entry: Compressing the energy from its internal core lets it fire off an attack capable of blowing away a mountain.

It seems to be based on a crystal formation.
Name:
Gigalith may be a combination of 'gigas', Greek for giant, and lithos, Greek for stone. It may also refer to megalith or monolith.
Gigaiath may be a combination of gigas and Gaia, the Greek goddess personifying the Earth. It may also involve Goliath.
Anime:
Major appearances
Gigalith debuted in 'Ash Versus the Champion!', where one was rampaging around a town. Alder managed to stop it with his bare hands, and found out that the reason for Gigalith's rampage was a nail that had got stuck to the bottom of one of its feet.
Minor appearances
A Gigalith appeared in Strong Strategy Steals the Show!, under the ownership of Kenton. It was used in the fourth round of the Vertress Conference to battle Cameron's Riolu, but it lost.
A Gigalith appeared in Genesect and the Legend Awakened at Pokémon Hills.

It’s Bisharp!

Egg group: Human-like
Dex entry:It leads a group of Pawniard. It battles to become the boss, but will be driven from the group if it loses.
Ehp: 5355

Bisharp looks and acts similar to a traditional Japanese bandit—specifically a leader—with features resembling samurai armor. It may also originate from kaijin, humanoid villains found in Japanese monster movies.

Name:
Bisharp is a combination of bishop (a piece in chess) and sharp (describing its metal blades). Akin to Pawniard evolving into Bisharp, a pawn in chess can be promoted into a bishop piece (among other chess piece classes) if it reaches the opponent's side of the board. It may also involve to bisect (to cut or split into two), referring to Bisharp's cutting abilities. Its name could also refer to the twin blades on its torso (derived from the numerical prefix bi-, meaning "two" in Latin).

Anime:
Major appearances
Bisharp debuted in Search for the Clubultimate! and A Clubsplosion of Excitement!, under the ownership of Georgia, having evolved from Pawniard. Georgia used Bisharp against Gail's Druddigon and won before losing to Bianca and her Emboar.
A Bisharp appeared in Team Eevee and the Pokémon Rescue Squad!, under the ownership of Davy. It was used to break ice that was blocking a door.

Bryony owns a Bisharp, which debuted in From A to Z!. It reappeared in Meeting at Terminus Cave!. In both episodes, it was used during attempts to capture Squishy, only to be defeated.
A Bisharp appeared in The Legend of the Ninja Hero! and A Festival of Decisions!, under the ownership of Heidayu. It was used to battle against Ash and Sanpei, where it battled Pikachu, Frogadier, and Sanpei's Greninja during the villagers' rescue operation. It was only defeated when Frogadier evolved.
A Bisharp appeared in Finals Not for the Faint-Hearted!, under the ownership of Alain. It was used in the final round of the Lumiose Conference against Ash. Bisharp was able to defeat Hawlucha and Goodra before losing to Greninja.

Minor appearances
A Bisharp appeared in Ash and N: A Clash of Ideals!, under the ownership of a Team Plasma Grunt. It was used during Team Plasma's assault on the White Ruins.

There's one small flaw I noticed, the PH times after Riako's birthday doesn't include any news, only riddles and pokemon of the day, there are supposed to be updates on the Anime, also, I suggest including some Ph trends and news taking place within users, and maybe also add dramas if needed, I mean, whats the use of being a reporter if you don't report some drama. I think many people would like those because, they wont get confused about what happened

Thank you for your opinion, however, the problem with inside news, is that it is hard to be said without taking stands. Also, I hereby make It clear, that PH times does not support any kind of drama. It is said that 'no publicity is bad publicity'. And we do not wish to give drama any more publicity. We shall consider adding those, though.

Name origin
Seismitoad’s name is a combination of seismic and toad.

In the Anime
Seismitoad made it’s main series debut in Battling the Bully!. It was a Pokémon owned by Sean's father, who loaned it to his son and Glenn to use in a battle with Mick.

It’s Lurantis!

Pokedex: As it slashes into its enemies, it looks like it's dancing. Its elegant appearance has led some to call it the most glamorous Grass Pokémon.

Lurantis is likely based on the orchid mantis along with the orchid flower itself.

Name origin
Lurantis may be a combination of lure, allure, fleur (French for flower), and mantis.

In the Anime
A Totem Lurantis debuted in Currying Favor and Flavor!, where it challenged Ash in the Lush Jungle trial. It was eventually defeated by Litten. Afterwards, it awarded Ash with a Grassium Z.

It’s Hitmontop!

Hitmontop is known as the “Handstand" Pokemon.

Type: Fighting
Ability: Intimidate or Technician
Hidden Ability: Steadfast
Gender Ratio: 100 Males : 0 Females
Generation: Gen 2
Evolution line: Tyrogue - Hitmontop
Egg group: Human-Like
Pokedex: If you become enchanted by its smooth, elegant, dance-like kicks, you may get drilled hard.
EHP: 6,630

Hitmontop is based on a top and a practitioner of capoeira. The fact that Tyrogue's Attack and Defense must be equal in order for it to evolve into Hitmontop is akin to how a top must be in equilibrium to remain upright.

Name origin
Hitmontop is a combination of hit, monster, and top (a reference to spinning tops and how it fights, by spinning on its head). The name is also related to Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, both of which have been parallel evolutions to it since Generation II.

In the Anime
Hitmontop debuted in Pikachu & Pichu.
Hitmontop made its main series debut in Two Hits and a Miss, under the ownership of Chigusa. It assisted her in teaching students about making their Fighting-type attacks more graceful, among other tasks.
Butch has a Hitmontop, which debuted in The Mystery is History. He made further appearances in Showdown at the Oak Corral and Putting the Air Back in Aerodactyl!.
One of the Invincible Pokémon Brothers, Kai, owns a Hitmontop, as seen in Gotta Catch Ya Later!. It assisted their Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee in their battle against Misty, but it was defeated by Pikachu's Thunderbolt.
A Hitmontop appeared in Pasta La Vista!, under the ownership of Terri. He was used to battle Team Rocket during an effort to rescue Master Hamm's Hitmonlee and Kyle's Hitmonchan.
A Hitmontop appeared in Good Friends, Great Training!, under the ownership of Tierno. He appeared when Tierno revealed his team to Ash, Serena, and Bonnie.




Apricorn Battle

Remember last years berry battle? This year, Lyra from Johto brings us the Apricorn Battle! You have to perform some tasks in order to unlock the rumble area 'Burned Tower'. Then there is the apricorn battle. The rules of it are very simple: Plant the apricorns from the Johto-Region that Lyra gave you and bake as many Johto Cookies as possible! The more cookies you produce, the more Festival Points you receive on the following day. Well, Good luck gardening!

Delphox's robe-like fur and use of a wand-like branch likely derive from mages, while its prophetic abilities may derive from oracles.
