In response to many of the people wanting to tighten the language ban on here, I would like to suggest a Mature Content option be put in the settings. It would limit certain user pages to only be viewed by 18+ members. This wouldn't filter everyone, as some people do lie about their age in their profile.

But a mature content option would allow many older users more freedoms with their speech, while offering a more child safe website for those who prefer that.

Both DeviantArt and YouTube have mature content filters that seem to work pretty well, and those are just the places I know of, so perhaps one here would also be a good idea. A compromise for both younger and older members on here to have more freedom, and more protection.

I once tried to make a role play, but mods told me it was too violent.

i support this but it's impossible

Like, a kid could lie about their age (some peoples are already claiming to be 18++ when they arent at all :v) and kinda, idk, shock himself?

pluuus this is not youtube, this is a pokémon game and pokémon never was Especialy for mature players.

You just gotta deal with it, if you wanna swear, use the palpad.

and if you wanna make a mature roleplay, use another place.

Even tho i gotta admit the swearing rules are a bit too much, the players are usualy 12 YO+++ and even at this age (and especialy lmfao) people swear a lot :v

of course, some don't, but still :v

Also this was already requested

Riako said somewhere this is impossible because Pokémon is a child-friendly game, so PokéHeroes needs to follow that "rule".

True, anyone could lie about their age, but they probably wouldn't know about any of the rules when first signing up. Most people don't read those ^^ anyone who fakes their age probably would have done it many places before, and would likely know all about cursing and such.

While I see where you're coming from, I'm still going to have to say no support.

Faking your age is much too easy. Just because they might've already faked their age elsewhere, doesn't mean we should fuel what little kids know about mature content.

Honestly, I don't get why it's so hard to just not swear/talk about mature content? I swear a lot in real life and I'm also pretty dirty minded. But, I just simply don't do it here. I'd like this to stay a site where both younger and older people are included and can see the same things.

All having a mature content button is going to do, is make 99% of people use it because they want to be included.

The thing is though, talking about suicide and such here isn't healthy. There are many sites online dedicated for doing that. Asking for opinions here or venting might only trigger traumatic memories for another person or cause wrong opinions to be given. I'd rather they find a safer alternative.

You can curse. Just don't do it on this site. It's not that hard. You can vent without hurting another user and swearing - I'll be the first to say that considering my diary is 99% venting.

Not swearing isn't that hard. How does typing one word make you feel better? You can find better alternatives that won't either teach a child a bad word or make someone else feel uncomfortable.

Well you can easily use a chat site to talk. Just don't swear/talk about bad things on this site?

Actually, I have yet to find a source that accurately states why swearing helps. The source you've given is a .com website and only quotes a single study which has only studied the effects of swearing on physical pain. Finally, this is merely a study and not conclusive. I have yet to find a reliable source that accurately states and confirms the reasoning behind what you're saying. I'm not saying it might not be true, but it's simply a study so far with little backing. What you've given me cannot be used in a lab report or a university essay report so I see no reason to consider it evidence here either.

I do believe this would be a great implement! I'm just a bit worried about the children on this site. I mean, they will probably lie when someone asks their age on a game. Come on, have you never lied to play a game that was for 13+ when you were 12 or younger? I think it is a good idea, if only we had a way of properly regulating it. There's my opinion-

Once again, firstly, you've given me a .com website which has no obligation to tell the truth. Secondly it's a "studies have shown" which often means that whatever it is is still under debate.

I'm not saying depression isn't as bad as a physical injury. I'm simply saying that the first study you've shown me is a single study. It is about holding your hand in ice which in itself is already a rather weird way to study pain. Secondly, it's a single study about something that is closely linked to psychology. Psychology is a highly debatable subject. Most experiments can not be replicated. Therefore, until there is a conclusive report, I don't consider that evidence.

Finally though, I'm just another user commenting here. I'm simply posting my opinion as a user not a moderator right now because you haven't broken any rules. Disagreeing with me is perfectly fine so long as you aren't rude about it.

As much as I love being a potty mouth wherever I want, I think you're forgetting that this is a childrens site, that's all there is to it.
The swearing filter is there for a reason, there is absolutely no need for this mature-content stuff.
You are wanting to express yourself on a children game, which is fine, but you are perfectly capable, as a teen/kid/adult/whatever age you are, to express yourself without cussing.
If you have such needs to cuss, take it to personal messages/private chatting sites, such as skype, slack, whatever other programs there are.

If you truly believe cussing is the only way to release whatever anger/stress/suicidal thoughts you have, a childrens site is not the place to do it.
I don't care if there are people of all ages here, just because you're not a child, should you be excluded from such rules, whereas such rules would force children to lie as is about their ages, because they now feel left out.
