Chapter 1- Everything's Different

"Well, I was aiming for Paris... but I missed... can you get these handcuffs off me now?" I ask, holding up my hands. The man across the table does not look amused. "You knocked out two armed guards and three robbers without getting shot and with nothing but a watch." He holds up said watch, a black leather strap with a dark gray face and a silver rim and hands. The hands don't move, and he looks at it. "Correction. Broken watch." I frown. "Its not broken, and please be careful with it." He frowns back, and stands up. "All right. Stay here." He begins to walk out and I start to panic. "Wait! No! I need my watch!" I move to get up, but the cold metal of a gun presses against my temple. "Sit down." A voice growls from beside me, and I sit down, shaking slightly. "Please, you don't understand. I need my watch. It's important." I say quietly, desperately. The voice chuckles, a guys, about my age I think. "You may not be getting your watch back for a while." Anger surges inside me and I close my eyes. He's mocking me, he doesn't think I'm a threat. A plan unfolds in my mind, and before I can stop myself, I'm putting it into action. I'm standing and grabbing the barrel of the gun in half a second, snapping the handcuffs with a painful flick. In the other half, I have him pinned against the wall with my arm across his throat, gun pointed away from me. "Too slow." I say quietly. In response, he shoves his knee into my left side. Pain flashes and I let go with a gasp, fingers already reaching for where he hit. The bullet wound, he had hit the bullet wound. My black shirt is already soaked with blood from before, and the guys eyes widen. "We thought you... I didn't...-" "Shut up!" I manage, everything starting to go dark. I fall to my knees, slipping into unconciousness, heading muffled shouts. I slump to the floor, blood looking around me, staining my fingers red. Then, everything fades to black.
