I think it would be nice to send out a user-wide notification saying something like, "Pokeheroes is currently looking for ....(artists, mods, sprinters, etc.). It would also explain where to apply. I have seen people who are highly qualified for the jobs but haven't known how to apply or that they could! It would also be nice if it was at the top of your notifications no matter what time it was sent out at.

Update: Or maybe even a setting that could give you a notification when a job becomes avalible. Like when an egg hatches except it would say, "The _____ job has opened up." It would be nice to have something that would do that so we wouldn't have to contstantly check one of these forums that is supposed to tell you when new jobs are avalible. No matter what anyone says they aren't active and aren't updated!

I think this would help people get more involved in helping others, making the site more user-friendly, and expanding Poke heroes.

Thanks for considering this idea!

Well it would show up in your notifications and once you looked at your notifications it would start moving down. It would go under the 'News' category in Notifications I guess.

We already have "jobs" applications. Here is the application panel for all the staff positions.
And I'm pretty sure there are sitewide notifications for when the applications are open again so you won't lose the opportunity! :)

Here is the thread for the mod application. You can find there all the information on how to apply and when they're open, the panel will show up the application form with all the information on how to fill it out.

We do have that but some of us don't want to monitor a thread or have it clog up our notifications. Do we have that for all the positions? Are we all going to go out searching for something?

Edit: you can also see the don't post updates on the thread about if Pokeheroes is looking for new mods.

I'm pretty sure all positions, when they open will get a site wide notification (The spriters application is open right now, and if I'm not wrong, there were a couple of notifications with a direct link to the panel).

The headline shows "Mod Applications: closed" So yeah, we aren't looking for more people for now :)
Also the panel shows "closed".
The easier way to check if there is any application open is this page, if it says "open" on any position, you have to opportunity to apply!

If there is a notification I didn't see it. And many users don't know that page exist.

No support.

In my opinion, if you want a job, you gotta look for it. No firm/company will notify specific people (of course there are small exceptions) about how a job is now open at their firm/company. When there's excess people and a small amount of jobs, it's up to the person to find the job.

Secondly, I think users we accept should be well-rounded and active around the site. Therefore, they should be easily able to find the threads within the time range of the applications. Why should we take someone that isn't even active enough to find a large news thread?

Please note that the above is simply my opinion and in no way meant to insult anyone.

How do we expect people to know how to find applications for jobs or even know they exist if we don't tell them. It's like if we ask a person to solve an advanced math problem if you haven't even taught them the basics. It's no users fault if they can't find things they weren't told about.

First of, I'm not saying spriter/artist applications couldn't benefit from more exposure. As I don't really know how many (useful) applications Riako received ever since the Spriter application opened, I can't say either way.

What I can talk about, is Mod-application -
There's a reason we only 'advertised' the Mod application through the forum.
We're not asking our users to solve advanced Math when they don't even know the basics, we're expecting our users to be aware of what's happening on site, if they're interested in a Moderator's position.

I'm just saying that there are highly qualified people who might now now how or when to apply, or even that they can. It's that they weren't even old where to look (I have said all this before.

We already have those, like what -Max said.

Sometimes they open up applications when PH needs new spriters and mods.

No support. As -Max stated, there are notifications when it comes to staff positions being open and I'm going to have to agree with SilverStar in saying that it's honestly the user's own responsibility to know about these opportunities.

I have to say that it's very hard not to know how to apply for these positions as well when they are open, seeing as the Spriter application gives you a very detailed, specific list of what's required. Even previous Wiki Helper applications, one you don't apply through the PH Panel, gives you requirements and steps to apply.

Also I feel like this could would be a bit annoying if the system works the way I believe you're trying to explain it (being that the system sends every user a PM when a position opens up?)

Why can't you people understand that some users are unaware how to apply or when. Ò.Ó Dint you ever have confusion about that.

Not really...

Just like I said, PH and pratically any other irl company will post something somewhere when they need new people doing stuff.

I agree with SilverStar, CatLady and Malkins, as that's what I thought when I read the first post. If an user isn't active in the forums and isn't aware of what's happening, they maybe aren't even worthy to be a staff no matter how good they are. Site-wide exposion to those that isn't active in the forums attracts applications to those that are perhaps not suited or adequate enough for the job.

For your latest post, no, I never had any confusion with it. The first moderator application, I remember, was advertised on the index page and the staff had to go through a lot of applications + users that -I'm sorry if this is harsh- couldn't even grab basic grammar posted in the moderator application forum begging to be a moderator. Sure, this would happen either way if it was advertised or not but users that aren't qualified in the slightest would just storm in if the staff were to post a site wide notification [ of any kind ].

edit:
You changed the first post so I feel inclined to say some more opinion aswell.

I see your point, even if a bit, but I'll bring this up again: If a staff isn't up to date with events, what's happening or just not active in the forums at all maybe they aren't qualified in that aspect. If you're a spriter or an artist, you need to pay some thoughts in your design/art and look at other's opinions on things. If you're a wiki editor you need to pay attention to new features, new info and make sure everything is resourceful for everyone. If you're a moderator, you need to make sure everyone follow the rules, no loopholes are done, keep the forums in check, etc.

And, it's not that hard at all, the site isn't asking for you to go through 600 page, you simply only have to go to the Forums under the Community tab and check the News sub-forum once in awhile if you interested to be a staff, is it that hard? Or just bookmark the staff panel and check it whenever.

The thing is though, if they can't find the apps by themselves, I don't think they are qualified. As many people have repeated, a staff member should be aware of what's going on. There isn't a need for an explanation (anymore than what is already given).

If you have negative feed back keep it to yourselves please! You may think it's helpful but it's not. Don't try to understand something you never will.

Regarding this suggestion. I have made a minor update.
