[Nov/9] Planned Server Upgrade
Forum-Index → News → [Nov/9] Planned Server UpgradePlanned Downtime on November 9th
In the past few weeks, I have been (secretly) working on upgrading the server infrastructure of PokéHeroes for the purpose of higher performance/speed as well as improved server security.
PokéHeroes will now operate on three super-fast servers (faster CPU, 128GB RAM, 1GBit/s internet speed, blah blah) - which should result in much higher stability & also a faster page generation time (especially during high activity spikes).
Most code is already transfered to our new servers - but the main database is still on our old main server.
The database will be transfered on Wednesday, November 9th at 10AM Server Time. The transfer will approximatelly take 90 minutes and PokéHeroes will not be accessible during this time. You can, however, access the Palpad if you leave a tab open before the maintenance starts. A reminder of this downtime will be sent out as a global notification 30 minutes in advance.
After the transfer: Please note that, as I said, the new servers use different hardware than we currently use. That means that the server configurations may not be fully optimal yet and it may happen that you encounter some errors (Bad Gateway, Server down etc.) in the first few days after the server move. Please be patient in these cases and simply make a short post in this topic with details & the time of the error :)
I did my best to set up everything correctly in advance, but it's impossible to test how the servers really behave when there are ~500 users online at the same time. It's always a bit of a trial & error.
Thank you for your understanding - and hopefully you will enjoy these improvements! ^_^
Also wanted to ask that in the time during the server downtime will we be able to access palpad through the mobile app?
