I don't know if anyone's suggested this, so here goes nothing.

In some games of hangman people are allowed one hint to help them guess the word(s).

In the terms of PH, perhaps you have to pay game chips for a hint?

That or the hint takes a portion of the chips you were supposed to get over all?

And the hints can be anything like one of the pokemon's types, to quotes such as:

"Popular Pokemon to Breed on PH"
"It's a Rare type"
"One of it's types is Electric"
"Professor Rowan's ___________"

Or perhaps use some of the hints used in the Royal tunnel in terms of pokedex quotes for certain things?

Yes? No? Any suggestions to improve the idea?

I need this as I suck at guessing xD. Also ,the prize is too small. 50 Game Chips for a Link Cable ? I do not even know what it is.

I think a Link Cable was used to trade Pokemon on the GameBoy
That or I'm thinking of a completely different thing.
Anywho, I'd really like this. Mostly because of words that are the names of extremely old Event Pokemon I didn't know existed

Or instead of giving us a sentence maybe they could give you 1 letter? Just a suggestion to your suggestion ^^
This might simplify a feature in a unnecessary way, not sure. I like where this is going though.

my take is that it should be a simple, vague hint like 'Pokemon, Item, Move, Place, Person' etc

The problem is that not guessing the word more often than not means not knowing the word; hints wouldn't really help there ^^'
There are also some categories (at least one) where there's only one word, so the "hint" would immediately give away the answer.

Then there are the guesses where the difficulty comes from there being one possibility from several different categories; again, the hint would give away which it is, rather than just pushing you in the right direction.
Then there are the words that wouldn't change in difficulty, because the hint does absolutely nothing in clarifying which it is. I can only imagine users starting to complain that we need to change the hints, because they're not helping.

Personally, I don't see the use for hints; if you have a good system, you don't need luck, you just need to use your brain a little ^^'

I like DorkyDelphox's idea of giving a vague word to describe it? I feel that would be reasonable and not over simplify it, but still help narrow it down. Support!

I agree about the whole suggesting thing... BUTTTT I've been writing down all the right and wrong answers then counting and putting it in Alphabetical order and it helps some. D; But I still get some wrong...
